pfc posible problem

Ok i just got mine installed.. I cut the wires that were instructed in the install post. When I start the car.. it goes to 3500-4000rpms and sits there.. this normal? I got scared and turned it off.

start it in gear, clutch in and see what happens. The accelerated warm up is one of the things the PFC got rid of.

didnt work. I have double throttle gone on my car and i have it completly blocked off. Does the 3500-4000 rpm idle sound normal? I disconnected my throttle cable to make sure that it wasnt pinched somewhere or somthing. Still same thing. I let it run for about 15-20 minutes idleing and it never once changed from its 3500 rpm idle. its pretty solid on it.

Is this a new or used PFC? Have you checked the idle speed settings with the commander?

Were any other engine changes made at the same time as installing the PFC?

Godzilla-T78 12-05-03 07:50 PM

Uhm.. I dunno.. i dont have a commander either..

Godzilla-T78 12-05-03 07:51 PM

it says it was brand new part # 414-Z004

LetsGO7 12-05-03 08:30 PM

414-Z004 is the newer model of the Power FC.

Try adjusting the idle air screw thats under the elbow or you may need to adjust the throttle plates to a more closed position or your ISC may be disconnected or not working properly or you may have a hose missing from the mani ... time to get cracking on that car!

Godzilla-T78 12-05-03 08:58 PM

ISC? When I did the block off plate I think it eliminated like all the sensors almost, i have 2 left on the uim itself.. the little green plug under it and the black plug right near the throttle body.. what is the ISC? and the idle screw on the throttle body cable thing, i have it turned way down.

sounds like you did not cut the proper wires: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/p...C_install.html

check out the 4th post

Sounds like you have the ISC blocked off if you only have two connectors on the UIM and throttle body. I assume your two connectors are the intake air temp and the throttle position sensor, that means you removed the ISC and AWS solenoids and installed block off plates.

Given some of your questions I highly suggest you buy or borrow a commander or a datalogit, read the manuals for them and the Mazda service manual, and then read the old posts on idle problems. The manuals will answer your questions with nice illustrations. They are a bit weak on explaining idle settings but it's common sense when you look at the TB linkage adjusting screws and the idle air screw under the intake elbow and located on the TB (hint: it faces the drivers side of the car).

Assuming you got the PFC right with that pin bs, your high idle is likely due to ingesting too much air or the idle settings in the PFC are too high. 4k is way high tho, may take more than just getting the idle air flow right to straighten it out. You probably have more than one issue, but I would start with limiting the idle air and go from there.

i did block off plate everything, messed with that little screw that adjusts how far the throttle cable can sit at.. im guessing there is another screw?

Godzilla-T78 12-08-03 01:20 AM

Found the screw, messed with it.. its down to around 1500 rpms. So now I just need to reset and let it go through its thing right? I didnt get no instructions in my box so im going off what ive read..
