PFC help plz

hi,

i just registered with your forum, and i must say its really well done...

well then, to get to the point...

i have a highly modded skyline rb25det engine in my nissan and need to know some things about the PFC before i can fire it up...

i have installed 550cc (instead of 370cc stock), a big single turbo, and the usual tuning stuff (FMIC, full exhaust, etc etc etc...) ...
i know how to input the injectors and the maf into the PFC and have done that...
what i am wondering now, is whether the map in the PFC changes timing and ignition by the value it gets from the injectors and MAF (amount of air)?? if not, how do I change the values ?
i have a wide-band installed, and have a dyno at my dispose...

any answers ??

thanks :iwstupid:

With the RX-7 PFC, there are three places to permanently change fuel.

(1) The fuel correction map which is a 20 X 20 grid based upon the vacuum/boost pressure(P rows) and RPMs(N columns).
(2) PIM RPM map which changes fuel by RPM only.
(3) PIM Voltage map which changes fuel by vacuum/boost only.

I suggest you read the manual which explains all of this.

hi nicotrico,

your best bet would be jump on a skyline forum, www.skylinesaustralia.com is a great one with plently of info on the ecr33 powerfc.

1) dial in the correct lag time for the injectors
2) select the airflow meter from the setting, airflow option

have you changed airflow to z32 or q45 or nismo one? if so select it properly. This will load the airflow ramp table but you will still need to check it on the dyno as it will probably be mega rich. the powerfc will adjust timing / fuel based on the load being read from the airflow meter. 2500mv on the airflow meter you may find corresponds to row 6 on the left hand side. you can see what map is read by by going to monitor, map trace and then doing a dyno run. the powerfc will highlihht which cell is being read.

so in short answer selecting a new airflow meter (if you've changed yours) wont alter the fuel / timing maps but it will alter the ramp tables for voltage. this is only a base "tune" and you certainly need to check it with wideband on the dyno

if you then wish to edit the ign timing or fuel for a given cell goto setting, ign map or fuel map and then scroll around to which ever cell you want to change and then press next then alter the value and press UP then press PREV to back to the map view agian.

if the values all appear as 0's your powerfc has been protected by your tuner and it needs to be unlocked before you can proceed further
