Ok guys how do you know what yuour timing should be or how far about should they be.
 

alright i got my datalogit hooked up and i was wondering can you really get a estimate of 30 or more horsepower from this.Anyway How far apart should the timing be and when do u need to know when you need to dump in more fuel or when you need to lessen the fuel.I am new to this and trying to learn any help is appreciated.

so nocab a wideband is what i need would it be ok if i turned on the fans earlier or can i play around with stuff like that.

you are getting the datalogit and wideband confused.

datalogit plugs into your PowerFC and can log what's going on with your car as well as make changes to your maps and even, yes modify when your fans turn one.

wideband is electronics that when coupled with a special O2 sensor can read the air/fuel ratios of your engine for tuning.

closing the loop now, and what is probably confusing you as well...using both a wideband and datalogit, you can tune your car yourself by hooking the wideband up and logging the your ECU data, plus your wideband data, then also using the datalogit to modify your map to adjust your AFR's and timing, etc.

lots of HP hiding in those INJ and IGL & IGT maps!

If you have stock twins the PFC works well for boost control. I'm using the Blitz SBC-ID for my GT35/40 single setup.

Just get the totally pre built wideband kit. The try and find the sensor for sale somewhere like a parts store, ect or online (the techedge website lists some places to buy it).

when running the wideband with datalogic, do you see the results (a/f) on the computer live for each point of the rpms? If datalogic displays live readings from the wideband, is it in Lambda reading? If i remember Motec M4 operating software...it had the live reading under the injector cly. line. Is the datalogic software similar?

The Datalogit can display the wideband AFR for each cell of the 20 x 20 map ... it will display it live as well as allow you to save the data for review later. Makes it easy to adj fuel by map cell.

Anyone want to share soime tips though for what he started the thread on .... that is TIMING tweaking?

For timing search the Forum (single turbo and here) and look at the PFC maps posted here ... pick a setup that's similar to yours and give them a try. Better know your motor and have your AFRs in line or you could be in trouble.

Best to find a reputable tuner and pay them to make power or reliability with the timing maps, only get to pick one or the other. There are a few members out there with widebands and some experience with timing that can set it up for you but you have to get out, meet people, and find out who you can trust. Same goes for the shops and all the claimed tuners.

Great example is that fixed timing that we see in this thread. That methodology is so old. Folks are finally learning from the PowerFC base maps that fixed timing is not ideal.

depending on the tuner, some will say 12 degrees, 10, etc. all depends on the tuner and his comfort zone in relation to his thoughts on timing and getting close to the ragged edge. Looking through some rx-7 magazines from Japan, their PFC screen shots showed only a 4 degree seperation.

That vert looks abused and neglected. Look at the top! And whoever had it probably beat the hell out of it clutch kicking and trying to slide it. You could definitely get a nicer FC if you were to sell your sc400 first. Unless that's equally neglected.

And don't listen to the people that say "don't daily a rotary".. I find they actually treat you best if they're daily'd. Especially N/A ones! I daily'd a N/A fc for 5 years until I started dailying my turbo2. And I did that for 2-3 years until I got an audi s4 for a daily. Now my daily is a 1974 mazda REPU. Guess which one was the least reliable? I'll give you a hint.. It has a piston engine. :)

^Sorry, wrong thread! But for your questions I'd recommend an AEM wideband. They run around $160 to $180 but I've also heard great things about innovate widebands which are more affordable.
