Injector Driver Damaged
 

Have TWO power FC's with a damaged front secondary injector driver circuit bad.

Harness was unknowingly damaged (dead short across on that circuit) and damaged the PFC's before the harness damage was discovered.

Question is:
Does the PFC natively batch fire the secondary injectors?

Reason for asking is that since there is one good secondary circuit and an FJO injector driver could allow us to run both secondary injectors in batch.

The car is an FC turbo.

word, I'm pretty sure the megasquirt fired both primaries and both secondaries at the same time.

Well we have confirmed that the primary injectors are NOT batch fired

They fire sequentially. The only way is to fix the powerfc's

We have the car wired with all injectors running on an FJO injector driver.

The primaries are run sequentially and the secondaries are run off a single channel and batch fired.

Really can't see how this plan can fail. Since the car is a track car, we plan to pull the car to an undisclosed back road location tommorrow and do some third gear pulls.

Will see if it works or not. If it does - good for us. If it doesn't, you get to say you told us so! :)

I see how it would make sense that the PFC injects fuel in port time with the rotor. However, it is port timed for an FD and we are using it on an FC.

Will report back with our findings.

How are you going to know actual duty cycle? Since injectors take time to open and close, you will lose injector flow. I know its a track car, but good luck tuning transistion.

Should work exactly the same as before except that we expect to run a little richer because we removed the resistors from our high impedance 1000cc secondaries when we added the FJO.

I fail to see what you're getting at - we are taking half the secondary fuel (from one good secondry circuit) and multiplying it by two (batch firing two injectors together).

To the PFC our shenanigans should be invisible. It still thinks we are using two 550cc primaries and two 1000cc secondaries. The only difference is that the secondaries fire together instead of sequentially.

Anyone following this - after a few back road runs last night, it seems the PFC doesn't seem to care about both secondaries running off one channel. However, again note an FJO injector driver is splitting the single signal into two injectors.

One problem I did encounter was that there was just too much fuel in the map. I suspect it is because of the removal of the resistors on the high impedance secondaries since we are using the FJO.

The tune still sucks and needs work. Car didn't go all explodey on me tho.

Got car on dyno for about an hour with the secondaries in batch fire.

FC with stock turbo. Map needs lots of smoothing but looks good so far.
