idle help

I recently got a tune which, it turns out, isn't so great. For the most part, its just really rich, and I'm betting the timing isn't advanced nearly as far as it could be.

The problem I'm having is with the idle, which is why I thought you might be able to help. When I rev the engine, the rpm dips down to about 500 before coming back to the set 850 rpm. When its in gear, if I push in the clutch, it just dies, even if I blip throttle a little when the rpm comes down. It didn't do this before I got it tuned, so I don't think it's a mechanical failure.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this? I've tried adding fuel to the cells where the rpm dips below the idle rpm, and increasing the F/C A.E. (I think thats the one) and neither of them had any effect.

Thanks.

You would have to reset the idle area of the map back to stock. Have your tuner fix it since he screwed it up.

If you have the air pump and O2 sensor still working with O2 FB turned on, and the fuel correction map was recalced, then that would cause it. Turn off the O2 FB.

O2 feedback is turned off. The tuner is a couple hours drive away, and I can't spare the time right now to drive that far. I did call him, and he just said that it was doing it because my idle was set too low mechanically, and the ecu just wasn't being able to catch the idle fast enough.

Do you guys have any suggestions that I could do on my own to fix it?

Go to the settings --> rev/idle screen in your commander. Post exactly what you see there.

once I get to my other computer I'll post what I found for the strange idle, I'm gonna try it and it probably wouldn't hurt you to do it either. Mine is acting kinda similar, but not completely.

I figured out what was wrong. I assumed it was the tune, because it all started when I got the car tuned. I reloaded the base map and it still the same thing, so I started searching the forum for common fd idle problems. I found the threads about the dashpot and the clutch switch. My dashpot was set a little low (its probably wearing out, but I was able to adjust it to within spec) and my clutch switch was broken. The spring inside was broken, so I replaced it with one from a pen I got issued in boot camp and cleaned the contacts, and put dielectric grease in it and now the car runs perfect! Thanks for all the help you guys have given me.
