FC Tune Commander

Hello everybody,

I would like to give you a sneak preview of a product I'm working on :)
I'll call it "FC Tune Commander". It runs FC Tune on top of Linux.
One of the reasons why you haven't seen an update of FC Tune for a long time is because I made the source portable between Windows/Linux/MacOS and between different processors (x86, ARM, MIPS).

The Commander gives access to ALL settings and offers logging on a SD card. It also has a video output so you can connect it to a larger screen (monitor mode).

Target sale price is $199. I hope to have the first samples available in September, sales following soon after.

Cheers Andre

hi andre

It is :)

I'm splitting FC Tune into two parts. A "deamon" (called service under Windows / deamon under Linux) that makes the connection to the PFC and logs in the background and a frontend.

That makes it possible to play games while logging.

Looking good. How about selling just the software for Android?

While technically possible I don't think it is practical:

http://code.google.com/p/android-ser...t-api/wiki/Htc

I'm trying to make a product that's comfortable for in car usage:

- Power supply from PFC
- Automatically turn on and start logging when ignition is on
- Automatically turn off
- Video output, so you can use it just like the HKS Camp, DashDAQ etc. (http://dsgperformance.files.wordpres...12/camp2-3.jpg)

Also everything with more than a few large buttons is useless for in car usage.
This is a complete replacement for the original Commander and not an add on.

Project looks good....I'll follow up on your progress....

Hi,

Need more infos about the connectivity of this thing, but this is definately the product that I'm looking for :)

Especially if a "gauge style" monitor is available !

The nintendo DS looking handheld is actually a dingoo A320, they are available at NCIX.com for around 80 bucks, very cool little machine. I have one, and it plays pretty much every oldschool platform out there. Neo-Geo, konami, sega, genisis, super nes, regular nes, commodore64, coleco atari, you name it. it even does MAME (argade game emulator).

Wow, just wow. Amazing job and work Dude! Raises hand for first spot in line. :D

Yep, but it requires hardware mods, modified bootloader and Linux, custom cables and last but not least the Tune software :)

Azriel_Strife 06-21-10 01:34 PM

Ohh yeah that I know, I'm running linux on mine. What hardware mods does it require?

It doesn't have a serial connector.

FastHatch, If you need a beta user, you should contact " cewrx7r1 " he is the god of Power FC tuning, you should have heard of him

87GTR 06-21-10 08:10 PM

will you still need a datalogit?

Currently yes. I will add the I2C lines to the connector, so that the Commander can talk to the PFC directly, but I have no working I2C code for Linux as of now.

Is it possible that you could at least make changing maps via andorid possible? I dont see the point of using the phone either kind of a hassle unless its basic stuff like changing a map quickly or logging 2 or 3 things at best.

Here's why I asked. A lot of us own a Commander, Datalogit & a laptop. The Commander works for daily monitoring, but it has a terrible screen and cannot log. While the laptop rules for logging, it's a pain to carry around all the time and has relatively short battery life. (And it sucks for logging during a DE event.)

My cell phone's always nearby, and it can fit nicely in the middle. I'm too cheap to buy yet another product that duplicates functions I already have, but I'd spend a few bucks to use the phone instead of the Commander. Give me basic logging & recharge my phone via USB for a reasonable price, and I'm sold.

FastHatch 06-25-10 07:35 AM

Android is not a good development platform. Too many different versions, too many different manufacturers. Making one app that runs on all Android phones is not possible. Also you would need a custom cable for each phone - if even possible for that particular model.

I don't think that there is enough interest in an Android version that would justify the necessary time and money.

Right now there is too much on my to do list, finally a new Windows versions, the Commander and a replacement box for the Datalogit that does much more. So I might look at Android in 2011 again.

can it run under Windows 6.5 Mobile?

Fasthatch, I followed your thread on the Tuning software, is it completely running now?

Yes, I was experimenting with a Windows Mobile version and came to the conclusion that it is utterly useless for anything else than monitoring/logging.

Most HP iPAQs have a serial port, not sure about the Smartphones. It's up to you to figure that out for yours. I'm not going to mod each and every Smartphone out there or make custom cables for them.

That's why I am making the Commander. Just one hardware to deal with. The days just doesn't have enough hours to realise everything that's possible.

Fair enough. Better to get the project done with your hardware than to lose focus. I'll keep watching.

Ditto !!

Any chance this can hold multiple maps? A high boost e85 map then switch to a 93 octane map when there is no e85 in sight?

Sure. You can load/save DAT/HD1/HDX files from the SD card.
(HD1 and HDX are the file formats from FC Pro)

Xeros 06-30-10 07:26 AM

So wait does this mean that FC tune is dead for good via laptop tuning then? I don't mind the hand held but a laptop is still going to be an easier method of tuning due. Larger screen acceptability is nice but so is a keyboard and mouse wouldn't you say? Plus the nice this about the datalogit is the ability to add a few extra inputs for logging AFRs and EGTs for a good tune. which in IMHO are really the only other extra logs you need...is it possible to get 2 (Actually 3 1 WB and 2 EGTs) aux inputs for just that into this thing? If you could do that this thing would be set as the perfect companion to the PFC.
