Exhaust temp light - sensor or due to removed cat

Hi Guys,

Ive done a bit if a search and couldnt find my question.

I have a PFC and a full exhaust with no cat. The probe for the cat is not there and the plug in the car under the seat is just empty (nothing grounded etc).

My exhaust temp light is alway on, when driving or with just the key on.

I know this could be a sign of a sensor and Ill do a check on voltages tomorrow, but was wondering if this could be because the probe is not pluged in or the wires are not earthed etc (my last car, not an rx7, required one of the wires to be earthed to turn the light off)

Also does anyone know where to find the normal sensor voltages to compare to mine?

Thanks =)

Did a sensor check and its because I have no fuel temp sensor. Can this be overcome somehow?

Fuel temp sensor will not give an error light as all of us with the Bosch 1600/1680 do not have one and it works fine without affecting the alarm lights. Be sure that Settings 2 INJ vs Fuel Temp has the 60C value at 1.00.

So even if the fuel temp sensor is highlited red with doing a sensor check, it shouldnt throw the light?

Checked INJ vs Fuel and all 3 are at 1.00

From what I know, in the PFC (USDM cars) the exhaust temp warning lamp becomes the warning light for the knock and injector duty cycle. In the PFC there are settings to adjust the knock and injector duty cycle threashold, these settings could be set to low and cause the light to stay on. It is found on the settings 1 page of the FC edit program.

Hopes this helps.

Broken Apex - thanks for the suggestion. I have looked into that and the PFC causes this light to flash if its due to knock and duty. I checked them anyway and there all fine.

Im thinking it has to either be the fuel temp sensor check setting it off, or bacause the factory Cat temp sensor plug is just sitting here unpluged. I know in some other makes, one of the wires in this plug needs to be grounded.

What have all you guys with no cats and PFC done with this plug?

if the sensor is removed you have to jump the 2 wires together to shut the light out, thats what i did to my jdm fd. the light in the dash will still work properly to flash knock for the pfc

I have a feeling there are 3 wires on mine (also JDM but will have to double check the number of wires). Is that the same with yours?

can't remember but i know i jumped the wires in the plug. short wire with 2 ends and no more light.

Wicked. Ill give it a go and see what happens

Sorry to bring this thread back alive. However I just removed my cat from my 93 RHD FD and the heat light is stuck on. When you say " jump the wires" do you mean to just connect them together so that they ground each other out?
