Datalog updates?

Just wondering if anyone has any updates on the hack for datalogging on the Power FC. I have been getting some information about the databox out of New Zealand, and will post back with the info in a minute or two.

Q: "Oh, and I can't wait for the "boost change on the fly" button!"

Datalogit: We are working on a remote Boost switch, so you can switch between Boost setting one and two more easily. You will still have to use the commander or Datalogit to set the boost values but you will be able to use the switch to select between them.

Boost setting 1
Primary Boost___ Duty cycle %___
Secondary Boost___ Duty cycle % ___
Boost setting 2
Primary Boost ___ Duty cycle %___
Secondary Boost ___ Duty cycle % ___

*NOTE* The Switch will not work if you have the Apexi Single turbo boost Control kit. The power FC only uses the Primary Boost setting if the Boost control Kit is plugged in.

Question: Can i recover my maps and settings if I make a mistake and type over something.

Datalogit: It takes a couple of milliseconds to copy all your maps and settings from the PFC to the Datalogit. "Update from PFC". Then you push "Save" and save the whole lot on your lap top. I suggest the first thing you do when you get "FC-Datalogit" is save all your maps and settings.

You could e-mail your maps and settings to someone and they can "Open" it in their Datalogit and up load it to their PFC in another couple of
milliseconds.

Or you can share them by sending your maps and settings file to the Datalogit web page :) "Datalogit" makes map and setting sharing painless!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: how safe will the actual datalogit box be in terms of leaving it connected all the time? Any chances of data corruption or erroneous signals being sent to the PFC?

Datalogit: It's as safe as the commander? Each command is in a packet format with checksum etc- the chance of one being erroneously generated and received correctly is minuscule.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: Any chance it'll be ported for use with the Mac OS?

Datalogit: Not at first, but It may be developed at a latter date depending on demand.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: The first series PFC was sold in the US when they first came out. They feature the three pin boost module input as opposed to the later 5 pin units. Will you be able to support these units?

Datalogit: Yes, Datalogit works on both types. The latter type is able to log a few more lines per second than the old type.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: Will the Datalogit application run on Windows CE from a Palm device?

FC-Datalogit: Should be fairly easy. We have Visual Studio Embedded (for embedded applications eg Palm devices) for Win CE. Just need to re-build the VB. (As long as the target has a serial port).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: Another thing that would be very nice in the Datalogit would be sequential turbo switchover control.

FC-Datalogit: Yes, we have already included the Sequential Turbo Switch control. There are 6 Load / RPM Values associated with this. The boost value is, cPa (0-24000) / 256

One note about boost control via non-sequential mode ....

"Primary is the only setting that appears to work"
I think Chuck Westbrook is operating on the Secondary setting? When I was running this setup I used the primary setting to control the turbo pre-control solenoid.

ALSO ... settings 1 and 2 both work in non-sequenital mode so if the switch in sequential mode is really switching between mode 1 & 2 then why not in non-sequential mode? It seems like primary & secondary settings would be totally irrelivant because the switch, I would think, would be looking at modes 1 and 2!

anybody have that website again, I lost it. He never returned my email.

I am not currently using the PFC to control boost.
But I soon plan to try it with my non-seq setup.

Hapa, I met the guy who is doing the datalogging and he showed me the program. It is an awesome tuning tool. I think he said that full version will be out in a mouth or two.

You can map out: timing, O2, fuel map, boost, knock, speed, rpm, and more that I can think of right now.

Yes, you can change your maps though the keyboard.

Thanks Jetlag, this is great news. Now hopefully with this tool and software, everyone will be able to tune the Power FC without the Power Xcel dealers!
