Boost Control
 

Okay guys, finally have 3K on my fresh motor and starting to crank a little boost. BUT, now that I'm working on tuning the car past wastegate pressure 7-8psi, I cannot get the turbos to produce more than 12psi. I've changed the target boost and duty cycle in the map, and on the commander but to no avail. I tried swapping the connectors to the precontrol and wastegate solenoids but same result. The sequential operation is working flawlessly, but I can't seem to get the Power FC to control the boost properly. The boost I do get is nice and steady and holds to redline, but I NEED MORE!!!!! Mu HAAA HAA! Any thoughts from you guys with experience with the power fc, this is my first one. I'm no newbie to the car, have another that I've had for 13 years but just sold it.

Do you have the optional boost control kit hooked up, or are you using the work around Arghx has documented? Without one of those I believe the settings you are messing with just move your fuel cut. The pfc does not do boost control on its own.

Doh! Guess that could explain alot! Lol! I will buy a new Profec B. Thanks. Nothing in the literature mentions the lack of boost control! Gracias!

I get what you are saying but I think you have the OP confused... The Power FC controls boost fine with a bunch of different solenoids and plumbing arrangements as long as you set it up right.

Before you go doing that, post your map and a datalog of you boosting so I can see what's really going on. Before taking the data log go into the monitor window and select "Advance" and "Sensors"

I was using the pfc top control boost on the twins, it does so very well. here's my logs and settings

The PFC will control boost easily past 12psi, however you need to make sure you do not have a restriction somewhere else, like a clogged intake filter.

Also I would not go cranking the boost up if you do not have the fuel to support it, but you are doing the tuning so you should already be aware of this.

Edit: It also sounds like you are missing the restrictor pills in the WG & PC actuator lines, this is the only way to get the boost down to 7-8 psi to start with.

Thanks for the feedback. I have the fuel to support what I'm doing. I have 850 primaries and 1300 secondaries. The restrictors are in place. I have K and N filters on each turbo, a Pettit CC3 IC and 3" exhaust back to the apex n1 dual. My suspicion is that the wastegate and precontrol solenoids are not working or sticking. I have bypassed them and am using manual bleed valves for the time being until my new boost controller comes in. Thanks for the ideas guys.

Verify that the double throttle is opening?

Am getting 12 and 14 psi with bleed valves adjusted. Afr is between 11.1 and 11.3 to redline. Will get electonic controller to better control the boost from within the car. I'm not sure if DT are opening but guessing so. Have not removed them yet.
