APEXi POWER FC + COMMANDER For FD3S RX7 13B 1-3
2 Attachment(s)
Looking to buy a Apexi Power FC + Commander,
I have one I am looking at from Japan and it says for FD3S 1-3 ... What does this mean? Also I have uploaded some pics, could I get some feedback on this item by looking at the serial code? I have a 93 FD 5spd. Just wanted to guarentee that this will work in my car. Should i request to see anyother pictures, what should I expect to receive with this bundle for it to plug and play? |
Nah i think your good. There is a way to check to see if it is the newer one or the older one. The difference i think is the newer one's base map is tuned for a Intercooler as well as intake downpipe and cat back, where the older one is only tuned for dp, mp, catback, and intake. Some one with more knowledge on how to differentiate the two will come by, but i don't think its that big of a deal.

I think it is an older version than the current but newer than the originals.
My 1999 one serial number was: FCC3 020-21682. My 2007 one serial number is : FD3S4 020-4082. |

My 1999 one serial number was: FCC3 020-21682. My 2007 one serial number is : FD3S4 020-4082. He tells me that it will work on 93-95 rx7... This is indicated on the roman numarals I-III But the serial code matches up to 96-2000 model what do the roman numerals have to do with the serial code? im a litle confused after reading the PowerFC FAQ From looking at this picture will this work or not work in my car? lol |
Ok aside all that stuff up top
do you guys suggest i buy a FD3S2 older version or a FD3S4 newer version and what are the main differences and benefits of both? |
The second picture is not an FD PFC. The adhered bracketry is wrong and the connector shell is not blue it is dark grey. If these are the pictures you are being provided for a used PFC for sale somewhere I would be very wary.

im looking for my jdm FD as well, is it true that north american version of the pfc is different and wont work with my jdm ecu? Is there even 2 versions?
|
There are not 2 different versions; there are 6 different versions.
FD3S - 96-98 RX-7 old version FD3S2 - 92-95 RX-7 old version FD3S3 - 99+ RX-7 old version FD3S4 - 92-95 RX-7 new version FD3S5 - 96-98 RX-7 new version FD3S6 - 99+ RX-7 new version Each version essentially has a pre-tuned map on it that is used for the specific year it was created for. The newer the version, the better the base map for a stock FD. Like RX72Heaven stated there are new things each one is tuned for.

But the base map can be changed/tuned to any setting and modifications?
Dale Clark posted a very knowledgeable thread about the PFC. Read it thoroughly. https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-forum-47/new-version-powerfc-faq-573647/ |
