Another idle surge question

Hey guys, just bought a 93 fd with a blown engine, sent it to the shop and got it rebuilt with a street port also. This car is auto and came with a power fc that was already tuned, I believe the injectors are stock also. It sometimes when coming to a slow does a slight surge from 1k-1300 rpms, also when i put it in park for about 10 seconds then it levels out. Ive read where you have to do the idle learn procedure as im thinking im going to have to do since i had the engine ported, but because the pfc is tuned for the car and im happy with it is there anyway to do the learn procedure without reseting the unit?

tldr:

is it possible to do an idle learn procedure without clearing out all the settings on the power fc?

Thanks for your help (and i did search for a bit while at work) :icon_tup:

No. You would need a Datalogit to save the map. You can try adjusting the throttlebody, dashpot, fuel cut settings etc. It's covered here https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/how-make-your-untuned-pfc-basemap-safer-idle-better-no-datalogit-needed-841706/ especially posts 1 and 28

Also, do you have the Banzai adapter for auto trannies?

Yeah thanks for the heads up, ive looked into that thread a few times and found out yesterday that you needed datalogit....going to try messing with the idle screw tonight when I get home. The car has a harness on it for the pfc but the guy who I bought it from didnt say if it was the Bonzai one or not and I havent gotten in there to look and see it for myself

I can't think of it being anything else besides a Banzai auto tranny harness (piggybacking the stock ECU), unless it is just a straight patch harness.

Yeah, I've got bigger problems now than an idle surge. Yesterday when I started the car I heard an unusual whining sound, later in the day the trans started to slip and only got worse as I got home. 75k mile car, so now im looking for another tranny...not sure if ill sell for a manual when I get it put in or keep it and just be content
