Peter Farrell Programable Management System

Hi guys!
Anybody knows about Peter Farrell Programable Management System?
What can I get from this system with stock twin turbo and fuel injection?
thanks

Rikki made some where around 350rwhp

I'm going to say average with stock port is 300-330rwhp with all the bolt ons, pushing 13-15psi.

good system. Best bang for the buck if you get it used.

What you will probably get is a crap load of problems with the PFS computer. Do a search. Some people don't have problems but from what I have seen you have about a 75% chance of wondering why you wasted your money on a paper weight. You couldn't pay me to put one in my car!

Had mine (EFI) for 3yrs. and for the most part it works
great. It even does a good job of controlling boost.
(In warm weather, with a stock cat).
Dale Black did have problems with his though.

i wouldnt use it.

not enough resolution to actually tune it.

No problems here. 5 years on going both on my Silver base and my CYM...

I hated mine it sucked. The wiring issues cause the car to stall out from time to time. Go with the Apex!!!

I got a 16 bit nintendo I'll sell you that'll probably work better... lol...

In all seriousness and just my opinion it's ok if you absolutely need an ecu and got one for cheap however I wouldn't count on breaking any records with it and dear god don't ever pay what they want for a new one.

Or if it came with the car you bought. The guy (older man) who sold me my car, just gave it to me, wasn't installed...I've made decent #'s but see where my limits are.

Never had problems with mine at all.

Good at controlling boost.

Nice to have three different boost levels that you can switch between.

3k hesitation is still there, haven't tired fiddling with regrounding, but I just keep it floored to avoid it :)

I like mine as well, I had no problems with it, other than occasionaly boost spiking. But i also got profec to go with it so, it's all good now.

First ecu upgrade I tried back in 1997 . A piece of shit!
Many early 92 made RX-7s would not run correctly on it.

Went with XS ecu until the PFC came out. The Apexi PFC is the simplest and best bang for the buck out there.

I used one for 3 or so years as did a bunch of guys around here. It worked VERY well. We never had any problems with any of them. You can get them cheap used. Great bang for the buck purchase. They are also programable unlike the ecu chips...

Making all sorta power on mine.
No issues with it other than it is outdated.
Its a work horse though and gets the job done aslong as you dont expect more than 370 rwhp..

PFS purple box

Finally got rid of mine and traded for Apexi PFC. Got tired of the max boost fuel cut happening at the most in-opportune times- like when passing on a two lane road with oncoming traffic approaching. If you have the stock turbos, this may not be a problem. Mine got worse after installing the Pettit turbos and running 14 psi. Mine also did not solve the 3K hesitation problem.

heres one for sale

rajeevx7 Feb 18, 2004 03:31 PM

I bought mine from Ron Arndt ^

He made me very aware of all his problems with it before selling it to me, but I took my chances..

DAMN GLAD I did! :)

This unit is 'easier' then the Apex'i because you can really only change 2 things, fuel and timing.

I have stock turbos and open exhaust, so the boost control function works, but my small wastegate doesn't.

I love the thing. It is SAFE for 14-15 lbs of boost with stock fuel system and turbos.
