Which ecu is better? PFS PMS or Pettit Ecu
My buddy want's to know which ecu to get, PFS PMS or Pettie pretuned one. I, myself have the PFS and i'm pretty happy with it, but i don't know much about Pettit. So what do you guys think?
Thanks |
The Pettit-style is obviously less flexible/more plug-n-play. If you don't need to mess with it, and you don't need larger injectors or something like that, get the Pettit, it works great.

neither imo. Get a proper standalone haltech, microtech etc.

Thanks, but I asked between the two which one is better, I never asked about haltech or microtech.

You can ALWAYS find something that is "better' i.e. more powerful, but what's the point, really? For someone who is just doing some basic mods and wants a reasonably cost-effective way to provide more fuel, why on earth would they want something like a Haltech? Its too expensive, provides a lot of features he'll never need and is a major pain in the ass to install and tune. Great idea!

i have an efi pms. its a great unit for a street-tuned car. Eliminates boost cut, helps reduce boost spike, and you can adjust fuel/timing. I've been reading a lot of posts in which people are dogging on the pms, but i think its great. I only spent 400 on a used one, w/ software. I just dont think a plug and play unit is tunable enough for a car that is a fickle as the FD. It may not work for super high hp, but you can always sell it and buy a power fc later. I don't think the efi pms is worth the money new though. You can find lots of people on the forum who are selling them used. Let me know if you want more info.
