Track Times

I was hoping to compile a list of track times and engine setups, weights, and suspension experiences. My shakedown drive put my RX7 in the garage for the past year replacing the tranny and differential, so I need some motivation to put the final pieces together once my heads get back from the shop.

What is your combo?

86 GXL, Buick 300ci motor with aluminum heads and manifold, 200R4 trans, 3.90 rear. Motor is capable of 275hp at the wheels of a full size 64 Buick and then some, plus torque numbers that only a Buick motor can produce. Not sure of the weight savings just yet, but this motor is very light. Hope to see 12s into 11s once everything is setup. Until I get it done it will be hard to tell what it will do. Don't want to claim too much as my time to work on it is limited between work and house projects.

275 at the wheels will give you 103 to 105 mph , and the chance at 12s, although 11s will be out of your reach at that point.

I said 275 at the wheels of a full size Buick that already runs 12s. I am copying the engine setup of a guy running 12s in a 64 Buick, so with a little less driveshaft and a lot less car I think 11s are very possible. Although until the car is all together it is hard to tell.

With 275 at the wheels, you will be NOWHERE near 11's. Plan on at least another 100hp.

I "hope" to see 12s with a motor that puts out 275 at the wheels of a full size Buick which does run 12.5 with a long heavy driveshaft and a whole lot more car. In a lite FC it should fare better than a 12.5 once everything is setup:suspension, weight transfers/removal, etc. I can see a rotary needing another 100hp on top of 275 to dip into high 11s due to lack of torque, but until my car is together I won't know for sure. This is all assuming I can put the torque to the ground. Thanks for the rx7club version of encouragement!

Anyway,
what are your time slips like?
