Tired of dealing with unreliable sources.

I'm tired of dealing with unreliable websites. The last 3 I looked into getting a TII engine from had no warranty and coudln't compression text their engines. So hell no, I'm not buying an engine like that! The one that did have the garuntee didn't have an ecu for sale with it.

I finally decided I'm going to put a turbo'd VG30 conversion in it and put a nissan engine in. I was wondering if anyone has done this conversion and how it went.

sodara 04-07-08 06:47 PM

ooOOOoo, VQ engine. Talking about lots of fabrication work/mounts... like entire drivetrain.

shadoe 04-07-08 06:49 PM

well i'd get package that coems with ecy, harness, tranny and engine

pistones 04-07-08 07:09 PM

i hope you can fabricate a driver's side manifold!

.Zero 04-07-08 07:33 PM

Might have better luck trying a 240 forum and asking them how they crammed the VQ motor in there 240sx.

if you were really wanting a Nissan motor i think a SR20DET or CA18DET would be a better match in terms of weight. IMO

splitzo 04-07-08 07:37 PM

Care to list what websites you are referring to for others?

TehMonkay 04-07-08 07:48 PM

Why don't you just ask someone experienced on this forum who's bought JDM engines, or sells them(perhaps japan2la) where you can get a nice used engine, instead of whining about how no one sells good used engines on the internet, because i guarantee you half of them don't sell good or complete piston motors either.

Turbo II Rotor 04-07-08 08:00 PM

Ask Japan2La about a compression tested TII motor.

Translation: You are broke yet pretend you can afford a sports car. You don't have the skill and/or resources to rebuild the original engine yet you pretend you can install a custom engine that requires even more skill. You can't find a crappy used Ebay engine with a warranty, so you are going to attempt to install a different type of crappy used Ebay engine that will require even more work. You may as well stop fooling yourself and simply sell the car and buy something more practical. These old sports cars just simply are not a good idea for most people.

OK, now is the part where you whine about me being a hater, this forum being mean, etc., even though this is the truth and I am the only person to reply with something that will actually help you.

j9fd3s 04-07-08 09:30 PM

so you want a 20year old used engine with a warranty?

I have no idea what anyone in here is talking about with all the fab and what not, hasn't anyone heard of granny's speed shop???? They offer a bolt in kit with instructions. Contact them if the web site http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/ doesn't have enough info for you. it even brakes down the different vg engines. Of course the best engine would be the twin turbo from a 300zx 90-96. they even offer 2 kits, i'd opt for the second and use custom turbo manifolds, as the engine sits lower and your aren't required to shim the subframe or trim the hood supports. I've looked into this simply for fun before as i can't afford anything like this, plus i like my motor. This should actually help answer your question

Will this reply fit in a signature? Deconstructing the truth at it's best.

TehMonkay 04-07-08 10:28 PM

Why bother with a VG? If you're doing a conversion might as well go with an LS1, however

LS1= Loser Swap #1
13B-RE = 13B Rapes everything

Just so you know

Jared FC 04-07-08 10:36 PM

Anything other than rotary in an rx is blasphamy! It isnt even an rx anymore its just a blah!!!!!!!!

TehMonkay 04-07-08 10:41 PM

Most people are confused by how the rotary works.

Others are just like %90 of all americans, they go out of their way to not learn things, and would rather keep their piston motors.

Then others just can't tune right and say the rotary constantly blows up, and gives up and switches.

Whatever it is, it's subjective, everyone has their own opinion and can argue it til they day they day.

If you stick with the stock turbo, tune it right, and do the reliability mods though, there is no reason you shouldn't have a reliable long lasting turbo engine, especially in an FC. Oh, and especially since 3 piece apex seals no longer exist.

zrokool85 04-07-08 11:06 PM

if u can make a sandwich... than u can rebuilt a rotary. just take it out and start taking things off.. if u think that u might not remember how things go back together than mark it... or if ur still interested in finding a TII motor than go to a junk yard. all of the yards where i live will give me a 90 day warranty compression check and start the motor in my presents... the internet has alot but not of what ur looking for...

:rlaugh: That actually made me laugh a little. Guarantee Evil had it right now, you just proved it by being so offended. You don't want to take the time of taking the engine out and rebuilding it but you want to take it out and wait for another engine that you will have to fabricate/use custom materials to install? Seems like alot of extra work, with all the new mounts and wiring alone lol

But then again if your thinking like this i can only imagine..... *wait does it go bread, jelly, bread, then peanut butter. Oh wait or was it jelly, THEN bread... no no thats still all wrong.*

Actually, you dont need a low compression engine to make it turbo.

Get the RB oil pedestal, T2 front cover, and the turbo manifold and turbo, and stock or aftermarket BOV.

Run a FMIC, Get a T2 ECU, Injectors, VAM, MAP Sensor, and walbro fuel pump.

Rebuild your engine, remove the exhaust diffusers.

Get a spacer made for the turbo manifold, you will need to remove your ACV as well.

Put it all together and you have a turbo 7.

This is all information available on this forum already, you should've read up before making yourself look like an ignorant ass.
