no hood on the runs?

FC3SHawaii 02-11-05 02:26 PM

Hood wasnt completed yet.
We were waiting for the cowl plug to make the mold.

most awesomer... I love the car, nice work on that beast! I'd build one also, if I had the parts to do it. thanks for posting pics. that car has to be so lightweight I bet its incredibly nimble....

so, how's it drive?
very responsive?
how's the power delivery?
what size/type of wheels/tires do you run and do you like them?

FC3SHawaii 02-13-05 02:03 AM

It's been pretty good so far, although we are still in our learning curves, both in driving, and tuning. When Maeda drove the car, it was cool to watch it go, but when we drive it, sure does suck, but we are getting better as we learn the ropes of auto X and drift. Considering we have been drag racers for the better part of two decades, give us some time to make the adjustments.

We been running the Bridgestone RE01 235/40-17's on the front, and Federal SS595 245/40-17's on the rear.
Guess what, the Mustang Cobra wheels fit like a charm!

RX-Ben 02-14-05 09:28 AM

Looks good. Got any numbers on that car- curb weight, F/R distribution?

Thanks
Ben

FC3SHawaii 02-14-05 03:27 PM

I need to get it back onto the scales...
Last time we weighed it, it was like under 1800lbs, without driver.

RX-Ben 02-14-05 04:45 PM

That is crazy light. I think my stripped FC weighs that without an engine. What did you guys do to it?

Ben

FC3SHawaii 02-14-05 06:02 PM

Took out all of the undercoating, soundproofing, and any and all brackets that we knew we were not going to be using. Also, the doors are lightened. When we took that weight, the front windshield and battery was not in. I'd be safe to assume that the car weighs now more like 2000lbs or so. And since then, we've added a few more things in the car, so yeah, 2000 would be a safe guess right now.

RX-Ben 02-14-05 06:42 PM

Interesting. I'd love to see some cornerweights on that thing if you get the chance.

Thanks
Ben

This is what it was, before the windshield, and battery.
Battery is in the back, behind the passenger seat area.

RX-Ben 02-15-05 09:56 AM

52/48 distribution is pretty good.

On the doors- you just removed the beams that are inside? Any idea how much the beams weigh? The doors must weigh in the range of 70 pounds each.

thanks
Ben

now that is incredible, under 1800 pounds, that is sweet music to my ears! So, I could build an FC to compete in E-Mod for autox and even with an LS1 motor that weighs 100 lbs more than your F20C setup, I could get the car under 2000 pounds... well, if its a trailer queen. how cool is that? very cool. I really had no idea you could get an FC even down to 2000 pounds without chopping the roof off and running no glass... yours still looks like an FC and its gotta be so light on its feet at that light weight.

excellent work on that car, what suspension do you guys run and do you like it?
I hear ya on learning the car still, but its good you guys have a great driver to catch up to and compare yourselves against, that makes for some quick learning!

FC3SHawaii 02-15-05 03:09 PM

Well, the side windows and rear hatch glass are all lexan...
The front windshield, is regular glass, to be legal in D1GP competition.

as for the doors, the internal window mechanisms, and crash bars were removed.

diyman25 03-04-05 03:36 AM

Amazing . 804KG. my god. with driver and MISC. you car still weight less than 900KG.....(BTW do you have any fuel in the tank when you weight it ?)

I try my ass off on my SCCA ITE race car and I only get 1090KG(with 70KG driver and full tank of fuel)

FC3SHawaii 03-04-05 02:41 PM

It did have fuel in the tank
the only thing missing, was the battery...
Perhaps now though, it is closer to 2000 complete...
We've added more things in the car since we weighed it, so I really dont know how much it will weigh now. I will be adding a few more lighter parts in the car though.
