FD swap
Sorry if this isn't the right place, but I am planning on getting an rx7 with no motor and adding an engine that isn't originally for an rx7. My question is..... is this a good idea for somebody who knows close to nothing about cars? I figured this might be a good way to learn... any insight? Please don't flame at least I'm trying ^^

here is the engine swap section:
https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine-conversions-non-v-8-118/
sounds like a lot of work, but if you really want to then read up for a while.

Uuummm I really wanted to put a vette motor in it BUT...... It was thinking it might make more sense to put a jz in it. I was thinking if i put a jz in it I could do add and learn a lot more...... correct me if I'm wrong. And I'll probably be reading up on it for a while.

Several more have put the V8 in than the JZ. The JZ has been done, but from what I gather it is a good bit of work and may not be for you. There are several knowledgeable ppl out there that have done the V8 swap and LOADS of information on this site concerning it to help you. It really does not seem like it is that diffifult, but since you say you know nothing about cars, this may be a bit of a step for you to try and undertake in your garage. You may also need to purchase several tools. This is also an important expense to consider outside the cost of the motor swap.
