rb25det or 2jzgte?

so i have a 1994 rx7 and doing either a rb25det with single turbo, full fuel set up, intake manifold, and motor refreshed. or a 2jzgte fully built from top to bottom with t67, fuel and 5 speed r154 i only want to make 500-550 whp on pump. let me know your opinions on both motors and reasons. also heard the torque on an rb25det is better

why aren't you comparing the rb26dett to the 2jzgte?

i'd definitely take a 2jz over an rb25

agree... should be comp to the rb26. BUT even the rb26 shouldnt be picked over the 2jz. 2.5 or 3.0 l... the 2jz is less money. 2jz have way more parts easy to get... i love the rb26 just not as much as the 2jz!
just my 2 cents

well i want a street car and my price limit would be 15,000 from start to finish for a build do the car is in florida and they would rather the rb25 becasue it will be an even 500whp and 500tq on 93 pump plus it is lighter and more compact compared to the 2jzgte and tranny. plus from what i here anything over 500-550 whp is to m uch on the street

lol if you want only 500whp why not use a 13b-REW? With the $ you are spending on all the fabrication to make a inline 6 sit inside a FD3s, you could spend half $ and get someone who builds good motors build a reliable well balanced motor for you. Then pay to have a reputable tuner fly to you and tune the car on the dyno and street...

2jz has more us support, you dont get jdm tyte points but i think its the better choice.

I think there's definitely a good amount of RB support - The 2jz is obviously nice, but a lot of tuner have gotten very good results out of the RB.
Of course it's also slightly less tall then the 2jz, which may help you.

But just like everything else, you're on your own. If you go that way, please let us know how it turns out. I've been considering such a swap, but there's definitely no info.

rb25det is very underrated its one of my future projects, it easily makes 500rwhp, is strong and less plumbing, weight and installation should be simpler than the rb26dett.

Can't comment on the 2jz though

Well if you ever get started on an FD RB25det project, let us know ;)
