Price to pay for a FD?

I'm thinking about plunking down the cash for a swap like this, and am just pricing everything out. I'm not very familiar with the prices of used FDs, but have done a quick search on autotrader and found the lowest ones coming in at about $10,000 - $12,000, though I know that autotrader isn't always the most accurate indicator of how much a car can go for.

How much should I expect to pay for a FD? How much cheaper would it be if I bought one without an engine/transmission? &.. if I did buy a running FD, roughly how much could I recoup by selling the engine/transmission? Lastly.. how much do rebuildable core engines+transmissions go for? (if I bought a non running FD)

Thanks guys!

Everything depends on market and the cars condition. I bought a good condition, well cared for Black/Black '93 R1 with 88k miles and a blown motor for $7k. Everything was OEM, right down to the tires. I think I got a good deal but its tough to speculate what its really worth, or what the imaginary car your thinking of is really worth.

Sounds like 7k is a good deal for a roller w/ motor+trans. I've been hearing 5.5-7k for a roller minus engine+trans, depending on condition. I'd be happy to find a bone stock one for ~6k.
