my FB (dont hate on me)
BEFORE:
https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...Picture019.jpg https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...Picture018.jpg AFTER: well...i guess its more like a "during" picture. lol https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...77/RX7/RX4.jpg https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...77/RX7/RX3.jpg https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...77/RX7/RX2.jpg https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...77/RX7/RX1.jpg https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...77/RX7/RX5.jpg https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...77/RX7/RX6.jpg https://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d...77/RX7/RX8.jpg Well i finally got the motor for the SOB, so that should be started here real soon. Car is going to be almost completely stipped, except for carpet pretty much, im going to sheet metal the doors (taking off door panels) and im making my own dash, which will consist of an S13 gauge cluster, gauges, and regular switches....mirrors, trunk popper, and fuel popper... This summer, i should have it repainted inside and out, and possibly some new wheels, and turbo setup slowly coming togather... I have my flame suit on...so...by all means...flame away...but i look at it this way...the car was sitting for 3 years in a field rotting away, and i have the parts im putting in it laying around...why not make something fun and unique...hey...atleast its not another chevy V8 swap |
Why would we flame you. Looking good so far.
|
No flaming from me.
Gonna be a fun project I'd imagine. |
Yeah, why on earth would we flame ya, your saving a a sweet ride!
S. Dakota huh? I forget that it is part of the US sometimes never hear anything about that state. |
so wat engine is going to be in there? just from the small details of the s13 stuff..and all the other s13's in the backround...my guess is some sorta nissan engine????

also...alittle more info on the project...im going to be getting either a 8" or a 9" (probably an 8") from granny speed shop...of course a custom driveshaft.
However im still looking into a suspension setup, im looking for something that will sit low (i like my tires to be slightly hidden)...but this is going to be setup for just about everything, daily/track car. so good handling is a must, as is power. Car will also have a 5 point cage in the back. Im also looking into some sort of ground effects too...theres a bright yellow FB on here that i saw and liked, and thats what im actually wanting to have the car look like...anywho...enough talking |

fell like such a post whore, but these are my 240s
93 KA-T (full port and polish) t3/t4 turbo 373whp on conservative tune http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/100_0580.jpg and this on is actually for sale right now. 93 HB SR20DET 230whp http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/100_0672.jpg |
Ooooh, I like that engine in the red one. :D Reminds me of the R34 Skyline's twin-turbo setup I've seen before. Sweet sweet sweet deal.
|
Your Nissan's look great, so your FB conversion is in good hands.
My daily driver is a R34 which is the same colour as you have chosen. while my SA is still the original red. |
I like it.
Would rather have the rotary in there. But whatever to accomplish your purpose, ya know? |

Damn, I'm glad to see someone who shows true hardcore Nissan performance in their engines. So long as you don't act like a ricer and blow by a particular someone. ;) j/k
I'd say your Rex will turn out nicely, even if you are creating sacrilege by not putting in a rotary. *L* Just playing, keep us posted! |
I don't think you'd need a ford rear end to handle the "power" of a KA, even with a turbo. The stock rear end should be more than enough unless you're planning on something like 400 horsepower.
|
It's nice to see everyone being Gentlemen today. While all of my 7's have been kept as rotarys, and the piston idea has crossed my mind just for a new adventure, I do have a great respect for the work it takes to pull off what you are planning to do, especially after my widebody conversion.
The pics you posted add credibility to your ability, unlike many of the other wannabes. If you accomplish your goal and can hit sub 13's in the 1/4 mile, and use it as a DD, that should diminish some of the naysayers comments. For your suspension setup, peruse the race tech section. You should find most of your answers there. There is a kit out for modifying the front strut towers to drop the front end and still keep most of the suspension travel. Good luck with your endevor and keep us posted. |
Well, why wouldn't we act like "gentlemen" ? Honestly, is being a dick to a newcomer really needed, and telling him that his plans are hopelessly lost with restoring an old car, along with putting anything not a rotary in is just plain stupid? I think some of us are better than that. Personally, if his first two cars are a reflection of his work, I think that Rex will turn out something fierce.

Thanks everyone for the compliments, im looking at hopefully buying the 8" rear, and the custom driveshaft hopefully in a month or so...then i can get this thing movin |

We aren't flaming you because it's an off the wall motor.
Not one of the "usual" motors: Ford 305/351, Chevy 350 (worst motor ever, IMO), SR2x. I myself have been tickled with the idea of taking a 280 ZX straight six and putting it in an SA shell. I just LOVE the sound of that motor! It's my favorite non rotary. |
I just got home from work after my 55 mile commute in my rotary, an 84 GSL, on the Atlanta Speedway, also known as Interstate 85 north. Zipping in and out of traffic at highway speed is smooth and easy in that car, I'd hate to loose that responsiveness by having a nose heavy V8 in there. You've already got a muscle car, why not have a sports car too? Common, give the rotary a chance.

How much would you say the KA weighs in comparison to the SR engine? I know the KA has a cast iron block and the SR is aluminum, I'd like to know actually weights. Or point me to a car that was weighed with the KA engine and then weighed after a SR swap.
