MKiv Supra Engine

Hey folks,

I dont own a RX-7 and im not really smart as far as cars go, but i was wondering if there is any way to fit a supra MKiv engine into an RX7?

I personally love the wankel engine but i need a more reliable engine if i plan to use it as DD from spring to autumn.

I want to know to know if this has been done before or if it is simply impossible. And any knowledge as to why / why not it can fit is greatly appreciated.

thanks
Konrad

sp-power.com did one and roachdaddy on the forum is doing one. my plan is to do one but people seem to shy away from it because of the fabrication time and the from steering rack being moved. as for the rear diff use a cobra 8.8 irs and custom axels ect

oh i see, how come the steering rack has to be removed?

well the engine is so long but if I do the swap then I want to try and overcome that

Basically if u want the motor to fit in the engine bay without half the motor sticking through the hood u have to lower the steering rack....kind of also messing up bump steer. no one seems to be able to overcome that issue as yet. Sp-power didnt even bother to mess with the rack. but they had to make a custom hood to fit it. If u look in roachdaddy's thread there is one guy that has his installed and on the street......but still has bump steer problems. Thats the only thing holding most of us back from doing the swap.

i really want to do this swap also

The bump steer is easy to cure... we did it on mine...No it hasnt been on the road but when you put it on the alignment rack and watch the toe as you raise the chassis and lower the chassis that tells you exactly what is going on.
