MKIII supra engine swap?
anyone know of a successful swap/s? can it be done/anyone done the swap in here?
lets keep the debate out of this, im just looking for info. thanks, Carlos |
ive seen mark IV swaps..but never a mark III

If you are talking about the 7mgte I've never seen it done. If you do it though, make sure to replace the headgasket or you WILL get a BHG.
what car are you wanting to see this in?
in an FC....
Of course it's possible. I don't think I've ever heard of this swap being done, but it doesn't really seem practical. It's a big heavy engine (I think) and underpowered too. This engine is also notorious for head gasket problems and might not be much of an improvement over the rotary. I would recomend either a SR swap or a V8 swap.

ive seen it done on this forum i believe aloong time ago i remember seing a few shots of a fc with a 7m motor (thats the one with single turbo in the US right) with the jdm twin turbo model(they where limited edition so dont flame me saying i saw a 2jz) i think they where from idaho

does anyone make a kit to swap the 2jz in a 3rd gen?
You should see if powerhouse racing can hook you up, you'll probably have to send your car to them though..
the 2jz in an rx7 is retarded. its huge, super tall, and really heavy, plus the guys who actually made the Supra 7 can't even drive it because the bump steer is soo bad. an LS1 built up for a turbo could make just as much power if not more than the supra, for a heck of a lot cheaper, plus is hella lighter, and you won't have bump steer issues.
The 2jz has been done without bumpsteer problems as for the 7mgte motor they can make power I have a 7m making 710 rwhp. The headgasket problem came from toyota only tourque the headgaskets to 45 pounds, get yourself a metal headgasket and some good arp bolts and you can have a stout 7m motor.
