Did you buy the Grannys Kit? Im thinking of going this route myself.

He is doing an LS1 swap so Hinson parts are being used.

Read Jimlab's thread about Granny's (I think it is stickied)...not too inspiring.

Good ol chevy small block, brings a tear to this mans eyes. Anyways just to hijack this thread I do believe chevy is a true american car company.

Well, I worked on the car for 10 hours this weekend but it doesnt feel like I got much of anything done.
Note for buying car fluids the future, everything is cheaper at Wal-Mart... I woulda saved $20 if I did not buy everything at Autozone ($90+ !).
Got the intake temp sensor for $18 at Hoselton but it took me about an hour to get the hole in the intake tube drilled to size for the sensor to fit into with a rubber grommet.
I had to remove the clutch master since I never cut the rod to the pedal to the correct length, assuming it would be correct from Hinson, and of course reinstalling it is almost impossible with the fuel regulator now bolted up.
Then bleeding the clutch master took almost an hour since I didnt fill it up first thru the end.
Filling the tranny fluid was simple but it was very time consuming... poured like molasses down a hose running into the tranny thru the shifter hole.
I overfilled it because the hose was a tight fit in the fill-hole, nice, so it splooged all over me when I checked the hole after 5 quarts and then in the panic I knocked over another quart over on the ground that gladly soaked my entire back because I left the cap off, oooh it felt just great.
I did get the engine oil in, new oil filter on, alternator is on, the radiator fan is wired up thru a relay and the serpentine belt is on, the 52" 6 rib is a perfect fit too.

I've still got the clutch slave cylinder to bleed, I need to change the diff fluid, flush the block to remove any dexcool coolant, get the 8 remining wires from the LS1 computer hooked into the FC wiring and run a big wire leapfrogging from the battery to the starter to the alternator to the main fuse block. I'm going to look into gauges for oil pressure and see if it makes sense to use an aftermarket one for water temp.

I made exhaust flanges from scratch at work saturday morning, 3/8 steel plte yo! Then I finished up the fuel hose switcharoo and learned that loose fuel fittings spit fuel into your face, wow fun. So, then I just hooked up the starter wire to the ignition switch, hooked up the battery again, turned the key and whammo it started right up on the first crank! Heh, it was kinda ruff but not as bad as I thought it would be, then after a few minutes of burning off some oil or whatever in/on the engine... it purred like a kitten! Settled right down to a mellow idle and I topped off the coolant, no leaks anywhere and it was GREAT! Shut 'er down and started her up a few more times on the jackstands almost in disbelief it all worked out.

On Sunday I got the clutch bled... which took an hour (stupid pedal adjustment rod!) then lowered the car down and it was super low yo! The tops of the tires were right at the fender lips but there is ok clearance even though I had to remove the pssenger side wheel well cover to prevent it from ripping off or getting shredded, guess it needs to be a bit higher. We towed it to my buddy Bens house behind my parents Jeep (very scary!) aropund 11am. Ben and I cut and welded up the full exhaust from piping and mandrel bends. Routed it pretty close to the chassis with the glasspacks under the axles leaving room for an actual muffler in the stock location each side. We got the X-pipe in there too, its a tight fit and ended up being a very long night... took a break from 4-7 but we were working until 2am last night to get it all finished and fitting excellently.. aaaaargh! We thought it was done at 11pm but we didnt bolt up the pipes to the headers when we were finalizing the setup so it was off line (and stressed) and Ben said it had to be right otherwise it would break... so we went back to it until 2.

It fits very well, doesnt seem top knock on anything and has a slip fit tube around the tranny location so it can be removed without much hassle. Ben spraypainted all the welds to keep them from rusting and thermal-wrapped a few spots on the pipes that were close to the cabin or chasss. The tailpipes are from "old faithful", a rusty old 2.5" pipe I had bought for my Civic last year and we left the tips rusty and freshly cut with Bens fiber wheel saw... looks so awesome with big burrs on it and heat discoloration too, all on the junky pipe, lol.... I love it. My eyes hurt a lot today, I dunno if its from inadvertently seeing the welding arc or all of the grime that fell iinto my eyes while under the car, in his driveway. He gave me his unused autometer water temp gauge to install asap, which is the last thing I need to do before I feel comfortable driving the car round town. Then I can insure and register it, just in time for the first snow! I dont care either, its DONE!

i strayed away from my LS1 swap but i am thinking about going that route again. What kinda of handling issues have you had? I know it is almost the same weight distibution but i mean as far as traction around turns :bigthumb:

On the FC-

2.5" duals fit very well underneath- plenty of room in all directions for movement. A 3" dual setup will be a tight fit but is doable with some patience.

Owen's car sounds halfway civilized with the bullet/glasspacks at idle but I'm sure it is an animal when opened up.

they are pretty cool, the concave faced ones are just so unique, I just wished they were lighter weight.

I did get some work done ont he car this weekend, got the new tripoint front bumper mounted up and it looks so damn good! I need to make an air-tunnel to the radiator and maybe an undertray while I'm fabbing up stuff. cant wait to get it all washed up, repainted and out for some pics around town.

FAWK this car is hella fast, wow.
