Keep my 7 and put a different motor?

Well i'm currently in a tight financial spot, i'm only 21 and "planning" on fixing to start school, well unfortunately i have to move out and get an apartment and in the last couple of months i had to have surgery and i had to get a loan to pay for it, and i have a 2000 s10 blazer 4x4 that i've lifted 5" and my '88 fc turbo that doesnt have a motor but the car is in great shape, so i'm either thinking of selling the FC and use the little money that i get or keep the FC and put a turbo 4cyl in it and sell the blazer. the gas prices goin up like they are, i dunno if i can even afford the gas in the blazer to get me around.
If i go with the FC, i'm really considering putting a turbo 2.3 out of a turbo coupe w/a 5spd, i know its a ford, but parts are readily available and cheap to buy and will get good gas mileage. any ideas on this situation would help me out.

I Fyou are limited on funds, then the swap might not be the best idea. Even if you are using a cheap engine, the little things will add up. Sell the FC and go to college, drink beer and well you know

1.find a barn, put the FC in it
2.trade the blazer for a civic or some other beater 4 banger
3.go to school and then get a good job
4.fix the FC with funds from your post college career
5. ...
6. PROFIT!!!

i thought of the swap cause i could put it in by myself, just tryin to find one out of a wrecking yard, i also forgot to mention i'm selling my '65 galaxy, so i was thinking just using as little out of the sale as possible.

If I were in your situation, I would probably sell all vehicles and pick up a good reliable student car (4cyl corolla, civic, protege, etc)

I don't see much point swapping in that 2.3L Turbo Ford engine, it doesn't get that good of gas mileage as you seem to think, and takes modifications to make decent power - and it seems you don't have the time/money right now to be bothered with all these modifications.

I guess i'll have to stick with the blazer cause there's no way i could trade that in and not be in worse shape than i'm already in.
