KA24DE in FC
 

Soooo i've got my flame suit on debating whether or not i want to hit the send key.

I'm purchasing my aero in a few days as well as some stuff to do something most of rx7 club is completely against.

I'm putting a KA24de engine (t comes later) in my car. Yep.

Trading the 13b engine for a wrecked 240 from a guy that has 2 scca rx7's and 1 daily driven rx7. Probably posts on here. I dunno. If you're on here, dont tell anyone! He offered to drop off the car, pull the engine from my rx7 (with my help, will be the third engine i've pulled from one of these.....) and help in any way he could with the swap. Most likely i'll have him come back to wire up the car. Not my forte. I like to cut shit up, weld things and scrape knuckles routing hoses and lines....


Not sure if i'd be the first to put a ka24de in an fc but it will make for a sweet car for me i think. The sooner i get it in and get the stuff i need fabbed mocked up the better.

So far the checklist is as follows:

Motor mounts (zombie 13b and ka mounts welded together)
Tranny mounts (zombie 13b and ka mounts welded together)
Driveshaft (zombie.....blah.....blah.....)
turn 2 harnesses into 1 harness and make a checklist for it......
Rear sump pan
Clutch line
Power steering line
Aftermarket radiator
figuring out if the speedo cable/ sensor will work from either car.
Buy fuel hoses/lines
Buy heater hoses
Delete ac.....who needs it? I do....but oh well.
Exhuast. I dunno. Probably hacked up stock to fit for now.

That's where i sit. Not planning on paying a dime for anything else until the swap is done and running proper. I'm well aware i can turbo my rotary and buy a shitload of parts for the time (not so much the money) invested into this swap. All labor and minimal parts.....considering i'll have BOTH cars side by side.

Bruce, i got shitted out of my lt1. Friend sold it to pay his fines. Jackass has add or something.

1jz was the next choice but for some reason they seem to be the new bandwagon swap motor and prices went up on them.

People are giving ka's away....as you can see. I have faith in them though.

KA-T slightly less retarded.
Good power but not reliable. My buddies have gone through many KA-T's.

Go SR if you're going nissan 4 cylinder.

Oh and I have a S13 for a DD. I edge past an NA FC in a race. KA's are good DD motors. That's it.

Nice, I hope you finish your swap! Im doing a swap as well. 2002 sliverado GM Iron block LM7! They are cheaper than the LSX's and use the same harness, and mounts. Only diff. is the weight. but i dont care ...Im tired of the gas/oil bill ! keep us up dated with pics!

Thanks. I dunno any alternatives for getting the driveshaft done other than going through Driveshaft shop in salisbury.....which is like a 3 hour drive....something like that. Aside from all the tools i'm going to buy this month, the driveshaft is going to be the most expensive part. I haven't asked my guy how much my rear sump is going to be. The rest...well, cake.

My custom drive shaft for my 1jz was about $100

2 of my good friends are Formula D drivers with KA-T's, they're not as bad as you think. look em up Matt Powers and Tommy Roberts

I've had 3 s13's all of which were great cars. My second lasted well past 250k and was drifted on daily occsion, dogged to hell and beat on. They are great engines, my current car has 142k and I drove it for 12 hours straight coming back to delaware from Michigan with out incident. For drifting the KA is a good choice. Bolt ons are cheap, they are easy to work on and they have almost no problems. I've seen a ton of KA-t's, all of which are stockmotors on 10 psi. They handle it all day long. The Sr20 is a great engine too. But i'm just a KA whore. lol.

iv owned bother SR and KA engines, and im more partial to the KA-T setup especially since KAs are so easy to find if you happen to fuck up bad on your last set up. SRs tend to be pricey when looking for rebuild or replacements. But that was several years ago when I had 240s.

Im going to say go for it, maybe one day i might consider doing the same swap.

My deal trade fell through. I'll be looking for another engine soon. Pretty much i can't have my front yard looking like a junkyard or the town will issue fines.

Pretty gay. I'll have to do it later AND my friend jt and I need to get our shop looking like a shop so we have a place to work on all our cars.

im doing the same swap.buying the engine on the forth for 750

dude just stick with a rotary, n/a motors are relatively cheap to find and rebuild, and when rebuilt they are very reliable. and if you need some extra power just port it, they're not that bad. KA's suck, my friend has gone through like 3 of them, ke keeps spinning bearings, and SR's are pricey. you could also throw a turbo on the n/a motor.

i have a ka and its not very good, not bad either but nothing id swap into an n/a...
also since it seems like we are on the subject of nissan motor swaps, look into a ca18de.
