has anyone put an inline 6 in a 2nd gen
i was thinkin maybe one day if i buy a 2nd gen and its got a bad motor i could put in a inline 6 from a skyline or supra or somethin else, or maybe a v6 cause i havnt seen a 6 in a rx7 yet. im not sayin rotories r bad i just think a 6 would be easier to mod
and a bit cheaper to maintain cause i heard rotories r a bit expensive to replace parts tell me wat u guys think |
If you're planning to drag race a lot go for it.
But I'd suggest just getting something with the desired motor already in it. |

There was a magazine that featured an FD wit a 2Jz swap.

From what I hear the 2JZ is to tall. A rb26dett might fit, but you may have to hit it with a hammer in the right spots. The RB is fairly small for a inline 6(well considering what I work with everyday) it would be a cool projects and you can pick up the motors all day for like 3k. Also you may have to run a single turbo set up the turbos on a RB sit kinda far back on the block.

I looked into the Nissan RB motors for my FC, but one issue I ran up against was the RB's front oil sump. SR20 motors are the same way. Whatever engine you use a rear sump will make your life much easier.

FRom what I have seen the turbos either need to be swapped to a single unit or moved forward about 10in.

The 2jz can fit. Some guys here in FL did it years ago. After he went 9s he retired the car. The RB motor should also fit as the length of the 2 or very similar, just different mounting points obviously. There is someone on this forum that did a 1jz swap in his FC.
