How do you feel about that hood? :D

Xtravagant 06-20-11 11:06 PM

I actually love it!! I daily drive my fd, and everyday at least 1 person says how much they love the hood!! I didn't feel to well about the price tag though Haha! The quality of the hood is pretty good too!

MK3Brent 06-21-11 08:11 AM

Got any new pictures with it on?

Xtravagant 06-21-11 12:45 PM

Nice car. I saw a few decent videos of a car with that hood on norotors and it really didn't look bad. It's growing on me.

FC3Sstriker 06-21-11 12:52 PM

truly awesome car. got any future plans for it as far as upgrades?

Xtravagant 06-21-11 02:03 PM

YoshiFD3S 06-27-11 09:31 PM

Did you get your gauges wired up, or no?

I bought a Dakota Digital Speedo Adapter from Summit so that my speedo would work.

My tach was wired up by my brother during my 2JZ install.

Xtravagant 06-28-11 10:16 AM

yeah we used dakota boxes for them! All of the gauges work except oil pressure...still working on that one

MK3Brent 06-28-11 10:39 AM

For your speedometer, were you able to come off the speed sensor on the side of the R154?

YoshiFD3S 06-29-11 08:14 PM

Brent,

My brother was able to wire up the TACH from the R154, IIRC.

For the SPEEDO though, the OP and I both used the Dakota Digital universal adapters.

MR_Rick 06-29-11 10:00 PM

The hood thing is the only thing I really hate about this swap. If I was ever to do this swap I would have to do a dry sump oiling system just to get the engine down and use the stock hood.

YoshiFD3S 06-29-11 10:15 PM

Yeah, I'm not particularly fond of the hood myself, either...

I could run a stock hood on my FD if I take the GTE plastic valve covers off.

I LIKE the Scoot hood, so I'll end up getting that down the road anyways. :P

You need the Dakota adapter boxes, I have them too.
However, for the speedometer did you go off the wheel speed sensor on the side of the R154, or somewhere else.

The tach doesn't come from the transmission..

lol oops..should have re-read what I typed about the tach signal. Then again, one more reason why my brother did all the wiring for my swap. lol

I'm not sure of the details regarding the wiring for the speedo, Brent.

Xtravagant 07-06-11 04:22 PM

we used a sc300 speedo gear modified from the r154, modified bracket to hold sensor and rewired wires to go to the dakota boxes.

We basically had to drive down the road and play with the dip switches on the dakota box to see which ones worked... ima post a pic of mine up here is just a bit

afgolden 07-06-11 05:14 PM

where did you get the engine mounts at or did you custom build them?

Xtravagant 07-06-11 05:15 PM

I got everything from tech2

afgolden 07-06-11 05:44 PM

oh ok. well i just dont like the hood they have. it looks too weird. if anyone else has found another hood that will work please let me know.

afgolden 07-06-11 05:45 PM

and did you get your engine from them or did you buy it from an import motor place?
