F20C in an FC??

I like the way my car handles and how nimble it is around corners so I do not wish to change the weight distribution so I figure that the s2k motor would be the best in terms of these conditions. I want more power out of my fc and my motor is about to go so I've been wondering if this swap has been done before if so I would like more info and thanks in advance.

For the Cost it is not worth it Rebuild your motor and it will be Far Faster than an F20C

Hell a stock T2 motor with a 3" exhaust would be faster

XRedXSe7enX 08-01-10 03:05 AM

I forgot to mention that I found a complete swap for the price of an ebay turbo2 but it has a rod knock so I figure I get a rebuild kit also. Thanks for the input and more would be appreciated.

You can rebuild a 13b for about 2k with all oem parts and put a large street port in it, The S2k motor you will never build for 2k

Rxmfn7 08-08-10 06:53 PM

There is a guy on S2ki that swapped an F20 into an FD. Ive owned both cars (FC, FD, and S2000) and the F20/F22 is a hell of an engine. I wouldnt kick one out of my engine bay :)

Bwek 08-14-10 12:56 PM

i'm not knocking the motor it is a fantastic motor

But from the factory it is pretty much at its n/a limits unless you do cams, itb's and tuned header which is all big money

Or you can boost it but then you are looking at big money

and on top of that you'd need to Fab everything in the engine bay

A 1jz will net you more power for less money Imo and a few guys have already done it and the weight balance stays very close to stock at 51f/49r

why? why would you do such thing?:facepalm3:

Scorpio Antares 08-15-10 07:32 AM

that is what i am doing to mine.

custom drive shaft, s2k rear diff, s2k trans s2k motor, Ap1 for both, s2k axles, fabricate subframe and mounts, and wiring, using s2k cluster, and AEM wideband. i may go with a full standalone, Aem.perhaps?

My friend already did his Hachiroku swap with a s2000 motor. very quick. runs 12.5 down the track, stock motor. Very good at drifitng.

My project will be done by next spring. need parts sold off my FC. If i dotn go with the AP1 idea, then i will have s2k parts for sale.. im in the crossraods between the S2k motors or going all out 3 Rotor with ITB Setup. depends. my buddy has a 20b laying around so... dont know. deciding when i sell everything off my car.

but honestly S2k motor is SOLID and Reliable! power band is amazing for stock, and deifnitley faster then a s2k itself. lol

Buy an S2000 and put your 13Bt into it so karma balance is achieved and you do not end up dying a slow painful death.

250hp n/a < 250hp rotary turbo?

I think this is one area where if he has the money to swap in the f20, he should.

They are GOOD motors.

This SECTION of the forum is not about swapping rotary engines back into rotary cars. It's about taking them out and putting a different engine in that the driver would prefer for their own reasons.

XRedXSe7enX 08-18-10 10:18 PM

Thanks nopistons. Like I said I found it for cheap and see no reason to pass it up. Besides, I'm not planning on doing upgrades to the motor aside from an intake header and exhaust as this is my dd. I just want the car to have a little pep in the step. And to everybody who wants to hate, please keep the negative comments to yourself. Thanks

237Hp At the Flywheel Vs 250whp.... and 157torque vs 210ish torque..

No comparison

But The F20C is by Far the best 4 cylinder motor That you can put in there is nothing better, the only way id put one in is if i got an Amazing deal otherwise it'd be a 1jz

sharingan 19 08-24-10 09:17 AM

The F20C is a solid motor, but as someone has already pointed out its at its limits from the factory. If the plan is to leave it stock, then hooray, if you have loftier power goals there are better options. One that note, the F20C drivetrain is a joke, the diff is made out of glass...just something to consider.

XRedXSe7enX 08-26-10 12:40 AM

Thanks for the input sharingan, because it is my dd my plans are to leave the motor stock as I have a 68 aircooled beetle that I am working on as well. Btw, by drivetrain, do u mean from the trans back or just the diff?

BrightEyes 08-26-10 01:13 AM

forget the F20C, just throw in a 2.3 MZR DISI turbo from the speed 3/ speed 6/ cx7 hahaa
shouldn't be thaaat hard to turn the engine 90 degrees?

SouthSideSlider 09-05-10 01:48 PM

notations:
the S2000 rearend is a Mazda Miata unit.(also the N/A FC)
we are currently replacing a transmission in my freinds 417rwhp S2k because it couldnt handel the power through the stage 6 clutch(i know rediculass)
if antthing i would find. a AP2 F22C drop compression AP1 cams, Persision 6262 billet turbo 18lbs of boost and rock some pweoples would.

that's a better idea, the miata is the same block, but RWD, so it should be mostly bolt on

If you do do all this -keep the stock diff -or get a tII (you did not mention if your car was na or TII)

driftaGTU 09-14-10 06:41 PM

this would be interesting to see...the f20 is a very strong motor...it comes with forged pistons stock...there are guys that just slap on a gt35 turbo and are safe at 400 to 500hp on stock internals.....i say do it slowly find deals on stuff and be different!and Good luck.
