Engine Swap?

well I was just wondering what would be a good replacement engine for a 13B from an 89 FC RX7. The engine is about to go and I was wondering if a piston engine would be a better way to go, but was still wondering what detailed information I could gather about enginesfit other than the oem one. I would much appreciate a list of the engine, thank you. :)

Unfortunately, Mazda integrated a system in the cars that requires you to deliver the shell to me dirt cheap after the motor goes. Sorry bro :( I'll be waiting though.

^^^hahaha. dude, there is plenty of info on this. not just in this forum, but others as weel. IN FACT, there are whole other websites devoted to this very topic. most people who put non-rotaries into there fc's use small block fords or chevys, perhaps most popularly the ls/lt series of GM motors. although i wouldnt personally do it, if you have to put a boring piston engine in your seven, atleast use an ls1.otherwise, just rebuild your 13b, or do a 13b-re swap, or if you are feeling really frisky (and have a fairly nice size wallet and a fair amount of mechanical knowledge/experience) do a 20b swap! ....if i had the money....i would...

ecko 09-04-08 08:16 PM

yea thats a most common one ppl use an ls1.

oh really? well i just wasted $13,000 in it just this summer. I better resell it quickly.

Selling an 1989 FC3S RX-7, no rust, no damage, 210k engine, need swap soon $1500 firm.

I've tried!! all i find is dead leads and porn.. I dont mind the porn, but im on college campus computers and the people around me don't seem to approve of it. :icon_tdow

Thanks for the info without the intensive anal retentiveness other people seem to give me :)

Im too mechanically retarded to deal with a rotary engine. I cant rebuild it or figure out how to use those rebuilding kits they sell. I just wanted a naturally aspirated engine for drifting.. but sure, lets try to use peer pressure to make me change my mind and stick with a wankelmeister.. shit no, my pants look stacked, but thats not my wallet. My wallets almost empty, its not my Daily Driver. Im going to trick my friend into paying for my mods and shit :)

...just a couple to get you started...but to kinda go back to your original question, like i said before, most non-roary swaps are V8's but if you look hard enough you will find that for some reason, 4 and 6 cylinder (ESPECIALLY NISSAN MOTORS???!!) are becoming a little popular, but not nearly on the level as SMC (small block chevy) or even other rotary (13B-RE and 20B specifically) swaps.
