Engine Swap

I currently own a 1990 Mazda Rx7 GTU. Currently the car has been gutted and there is no interior present. I was interested in creating a HYBRID vehice by using a VG30DETT motor from a 300z. IS this even possible? If so what type of fabrication am I looking at? Any information given woould be greatly appreciated.

There are websites dedicated to swapping piston engines into RX7's. This IS NOT one of them. Some people here take their rotaries a little too seriously and will flame on you for asking this type of question.

why would you do that, that engine is heavy as hell and would mess up the cornering.

lmfao...don't buy an rx7 if u don't want the engine ;)

I've never seen that done. Lot's of fabrication i'm sure, it sounds like it would be nice and powerful. I wouldn't do it unless I had the engine already, because any powerlevel you reach with that engine can be demolished by a modified 20b (probably about the same price range), or even a 13b. I do know the twin turbo 300z's are fast as shit and being they carry a lot more weight, once dropped into the lighter RX-7 it will be fast.
oh, btw this is not nopistons.com smart one.

Thank you for responding RotaryRocket. As I said before for the people who posted nonhelpful repsonses , I said the car is currently gutted. (meaning bare, empty, nothing inside.) There are members on this forum and website who have v8 powered chevy engines in their RX. It's all about being different and trying new things. Who can't obtain a Turbo RX7 motor and drop into their car? AS I stated in the first post this is designed to be a HYBRID project.

Thanks,,

The VG30DETT is pretty wide right? You might measure up before you buy the engine. Don't forget to account for mainfolds and turbos too. Also, the block is very strong and VERY heavy. More so than a LS1 block, and nearly as much as a SBC block. The heads are also heavy as are the turbos and manifolds. I have a feeling this swap would be nose heavy. I also bet if you swapped a 300zx with an LS1, it would lose weight. Feel free to prove me wrong!
