engine swap
 

Hello everyone new to the site... just bought a 1986 rx-7 with 250 000km and im thinking of putting a v6 Grand National engine -turbo .. which will give me about 350 hp. I want to do an engine swap .. which i have a rotary non turbo engine right now ... I was wondering what your opinions are...

wont comment on the swap....... (REALLY DONT LIKE NON ROTARY RX7'S)... but the motor your picking is a great one!! light, turbo'ed.... should kick some ass!! hope everything works out!

Granny's and Hinson don't make anything for the GN V6, and pretty much everything has to be made from scratch. It's not an easy swap, but it can and has been done.

Good luck. Transplanting all the buick wiring and ECM components is going to be tricky. You might have an easier time using a SBC

Send a PM to GNX7. He's done it and knows more about it than most anyone. Also, www.misred.com does work, maybe there was network trouble when you looked at it. VERY informative site. Check out www.wrongmotor.com as well.

Not a lot of differences between the V6 and a standard SBC - most of the cars one came in, so did the other. The Grand National and Monte Carlo are 2 perfect examples of that. So one isn't harder to install than the other, unless you take into account the turbo aspect of it. And the info is out there to do that simply and properly.
