Does anyone think.........

Does anyone think you could put a viper engine inside a s5 body or a 3rd gen body.drivetrain included.if anybody thinks its possible or not hit me up or pm me 1.

if your going to spend that kind of cash on a viper engine/drivetrain, why not get a 20B?? just a suggestion

First off, unless you have 50 grand you can just say goodbye to, just drop the topic.

If so... you can do anything you want with enough money.

I can take a 2nd gen and put a f16 jet engine on it if I want to. Need about 200K to do it, but it can be done.

Bill Gates' partner of microsoft had a Porshe 959 I think imported. He basicly bought his own law to have it here. Its nowhere near legal, bad ass car.

i think its like 12k for one

you could get the v10 from a dodge truck for cheaper and just use the viper parts on it...the shortblock was for sale on ebay for like 2k one time i think....maybe you could get lucky...

a truck v10 is iron, fucking heavey

The concept is insane, but you're thinking, and I like that.

Ive seen quite a few viper motors up close. I like the concept, but it will be just short of a miracle if you can wedge that BIG WIDE block into a FC or FD. Possibly the only way it might work is building a tube frame front. Construct it around the engine. Then theres the nite mare of the drivetrain. Which if it were to work you'll need a really WIDE body kit to fit the 335 tire.
Realisticly anything is possible, but unless you or some relative owns a complete building and fabricating shop and you are not worried about money, then by all means go for it. Cause this project would end up costing more than the Viper it self.

Nope, I don't think it's really possible without tons of $$$, and really wouldn't see the point.

My LS1 is a tight fit, and the viper engine is much bigger and much heavier.

For about the same amount of $$$ I bet you could convert the FD to LS1 power and stroke it to 427-454 CID and make more power than the viper crate motor would, and you wouldn't really increase the weight or the footprint of the LS1.

The LS1 is a proven alternative at this point. And the best option weight wise IMHO if you're set on converting to a piston powered drivetrain

I personally wouldn't build a large cube ls1. They typically can't spin as high and cost an assload of money.

Back on topic of the viper engine in a FD:

Although it's an interesting idea, I'm next to positive it won't fit without heavily altering the car. It's also a heavy engine and it would be more of a novelty imo since there are smaller lighter engines that fit and can make more power than you'd ever be able to use in a FD chassis.

I don't see any reason besides bling factor to even try this swap. If you want the bling factor, just buy an entire viper. A used one would probably cost you less and obviously be less of a hack job.

What's spinning high to you? Some of the 6.3L-7.0L strokers have ~7000rpm redline. That's a full 1000 higher than the viper engine.

And what's $$$. Last I checked the viper crate engines were about $9K. A 6.3L LS1, which will make about the same power as the viper crate motor will out of the box is $6K + exchange at MTI.

It's basically a wash. And I agree. Once you're shelling out that kind of dough just drop the change on a used viper.
