Anyone ever Use an euro engine?
 

I've seen lotsa stuff, stuffed into our beloved FC's and FD's

but something occured to me today..

it's always American V8.. or Japanese (usually turbo) motors


has anyone ever used a Euro engine?

specifically, the S50B32 motor.. which comes in the E36 ///M3 evo, and the Z3 ///M

321 brake horse.. I6... ITB's high compression free revving..

i think it would be quite interesting in a car thats like 600-700 lbs lighter then it's original home

personally i'd never do it, i love my rotors too much even with all their associated headaches...

but i was more interested in it from a techincal stand point.. just to spark convo.. so to speak

I don't think I've seen that one done yet, although I have seen an LS1 in an E36 M3 :)

I had an E36 and after having both cars, I don't think the I6 would be a good candidate due to it's size. The I6 is a rather large engine - not just in length but height as well. It's actually pretty cramped in the 3-series engine bay. I don't know if it would physically fit in the confines of the Mazda.

It would be an interesting swap if someone were to go that route though!

Its not about ethnicity or continent or which *DM its from. Its not about REPPING WIT YO CREW or anything else, its bang for buck.

And, well, in the USA, smallblock v8s are by and large the king of that.

If you consider standalones good bang for the buck than go ahead. BMW engine computers require the entire car harness to operate.

it's not a great swap for exactly that reason. I actually just recently was checking out the '05 m3 at a friends house, and just some of the features you'd have to screw with to get it to run would be ridiculous. The temp. controlled redline being a big one. It has like 3 or 4 different redline's for different situations involving load, temp, and whether or not you're in "sport' mode. I didn't get to look into things a whole lot, but just thinking about how much more in-depth the computer controls for that engine are, just doesn't seem like a lot of fun to me. But, after riding in the car, i would say whoever can get it done, would have a very smooth, tire-fryin' ride.
