Another 2.3T Project coming soon...
...just got off the phone w/ Grant @ Granny's. They have their mount kit in-stock, and should be getting mine mailed out on Tuesday. Got my Merkur "wings" off ebay over the weekend. Can't f'ing wait.
Anyone who's actually done the swap, or at least started; PM me, wanna get an idea of what I'm about to get into... (I know about the future hood-massacre lol) |
...wanted to chime in here and mention that the guys at grannys got my mounts to me post-haste...
...the douche who I bought the merkur mounts from on ebay, however, has taken as long as this thread has been around, and still no sign of them :(... Granny's +1 Ebay seller -14 |

im a little curious about this as well.
|
so there is a nice 2.3T engine sitting in my shop...
do you have pictures of what merkur mounts look like? I have no idea what car the engine i have actually came out of. |
i've seen a few abandoned projects, but hardly any completed. i think people often run into problems with mounting accessories and hood clearance
|
I fear no clearances. I only plan on running an alternator. MAYBE the p/s pump, which is amazingly light. I expect the camshaft pulley to contact the hood, put i have ideas.
150 dollars! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/DSC00908.jpg |
Good luck with your project. I am currently building a 2.3T project myself. I have: a rebuilt .30 bored engine
Holset wh1c turbo Porsche 944 intercooler (I am planning on modifying the end tanks so I won't have to modify the bumper) Lincoln MKVIII fan (fits perfectly over the rx7 stock radiator) Gutted upper and ported lower intake pyropete stage 4 clutch stinger header ported head moates computer maf setup granny's mounts (will have to drill my own holes or weld it in because I have a vert) My rx7 engine bay is clean and ready to go. I should be good for 300 rwhp and about the same torque plus I'm thinking 21-25 mpg even with the 410 out back. Next upgrade would be better injectors and a tune (maybe megasquirt) which should put me at 400 to 450 hp. After I part out what is left of the tbird and sell off my rotary engine I should have less than $1500 in everything including the rx7 vert. Good luck with your project, let me know if you need any help (though I don't know much). Be sure to check out turboford.net. Please keep us informed on how it is going. I'll try to get some pics up someday. |

You need to be searching the 1st gen section for Eville140 . He done a swap about 4 years ago into a 1st gen. I rode in it and it was every bit as fast as my 13b-RE swap. What was sad is I have $12k in it and he had maybe 2 or 3k at MOST. His name was Rany. I forget his last name but I think it was Randy Heflin?
