69 Datsun 510........HELP
Hey guys im new here.... I have a 1969 Datsun 510... I have had Many Many Rx7's and am now ready to put a 13b into my 510, "i need real power" :)
Right now im pulling out the motor and cleaning it up, i was curious as to if anyone here could help me out a little, just need to know what kind of problems you may have encountered and any advice that you might want to give. Also i need to know the mounting situation, i want to solid mount it. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
The most common way I've seen to mount a 13b in a 510 is to get a gsl-se front cover since it has a spot for a mount, and then get a peice of angle iron and bam you got your self a motor mount the you mount onto the sub frame. I was going to do this same project my self years ago so Im going off of memory. Visit the 510 forums theres info out there, ive seen it.

If you want real power there are a number of FD twin turbo 13B-REW motors for sale here in CA with 5speed transmissions complete takeouts for under $1500. Normally from people wanting to do LS1 conversions. :)
You can make 300rwhp with very few mods. |
i was hoping to go carb, i diddnt want to deal with the whole wiring harness and injectors.

That would be incredibly low for a running motor trans, and all the accociated parts in good shape.
A really good bet would be a 13b-re. Carb or EFI, you want a 4 port, not a 6 port. The re is very likley to be in good shape, (I purchased 2 that had around 100 psi compression), comes with an auto rear counter weight, and is available as a package deal with a t2 trans for 1400 or less from a few jap importers. The RE also has the biggerst port runners of any mazda engine ever.
