5MGE into an FC?

I have an 85 supra lying around with an intact motor but the interior and exterior are shot to shit. That being said, i also have an extra TII FC shell laying around. Lately i've been wondering if i couldnt simply throw the supra engine in the FC and make it work? Has anyone done this? Opinions? THoughts? COncerns? Let me know! If its possible then i want to know what needs to happen to make it work!
THanks

car with no engine and engine with no car may sound easy, but it would be a lot of work and expense. you'd be better off finding a stock motor or a supra shell.

But it IS possible, yeah? What sorts of things are gonna kill me on this project?

im guessing the swap of the trans. will be the most difficult, along with mounting everything (motor and trans). i say go for it though.

I love FC's and I love Toyota 6's but my only concern with this swap is the weight and potential of a 5m. The 5m is heavy and big. Not only that but it makes about 140hp which is about the same as an S4 na and there isn't much you can do to a 5m.

it would be lots of custom work with limited potential.

If you could get just 600 dollars for the supra, that would be enough for a far easier to swap engine and trans with more potential.

what other engines would be good (and fairly inexpensive) to swap in if not the
5m? Mind you, one rotary engine has been a big enough pain in my ass which is why im trying to make my other FC piston-powered (not that there's anythin wrong with a rotary, just too expensive to maintain 2 )

Lots of engines and whole cars with good engines for under a grand.

examples, when cleaning out my late grandfaithers stuff I had to get rid of 6 cars that I wanted nothing to do with.

I sold 2 older former police crown vics, one with a 5.0 and one with a 351 for around 500 dollars each. Both had under 100k miles, and neither had turned the odo over. That was actually less than he paid for them according to the receipts found in the glove box. Add to that engine a junkyard T5 and you could be in bushinesses with a completed swap as low as 1500 dollars.

Displacement trumps technology in most cases .

in my opinion the 5M and the 7M are not the best engines to swap into anything. they have problems with low head bolt torque specs from the factory which is easily remedied but you can get a 1JZ for really cheap and they actually have more aftermarket support. and of course there is the fact that it comes with more HP stock for stock.

That boat anchor is way too heavy and large. Pointless.
