5.0L V10 Conv?
 

Well what about a 5L V10 VW DIESEL conversion,engine standard bar being chipped with induction kit and full straight through exhaust,good for 400hp and about 650ft of torque and with the weight of th rx(gen3)with auto tip-tronic 35-40mpg! Fabrication is the big issue the unit is quite compact for its size but a new bonnet is a must,also inside front arches and tranny tunnel.For all the tourqe,I think 20"rims with the widest rubber possible!Any input would be super or idea's besides it being a stupid idea an rx7 with a diesel sacriledge...cheers.

i still think i can make a viper v10 engine fit into an fc, an fd i dont think i could.

I'd almost guarantee you could, however, fitting a radiator and accessories ON the engine might be difficult. Unless you put the firewall about 10-12" back.

thats how i got the current engine in there. as it stands, i could probably fit a v10 into my car in its current configuration.

Overall dimensions of the Viper engine are: top to bottom - 26", front to rear - 34-1/2", width across the valve covers - 23".

its the same width as the dodge 5.9 liter motor. shouldnt be much longer than my bb v8 one.

the viper engine is 34.5" long, my northstar is 26.5" long and the LS1 is 28" long. 6.5 more inches isnt that much, just have a pusher fan instead of a puller fan. and maybe a slimmer radiator and i think it may work...no, it WILL WORK!!

about 850lbs on the high side. i have a whole pdf file that shows what dimensions/weights the motors are. just 15kb too big to upload here.

850???? thats freaking heavy for only 2 more pistons 6 more inches and 4 more valves. Ls1s are like what, 450lbs????

i would imagine more internal bracing for the block. lowest ive seen quoted was 750 but i dont know and i think thats dressed weight, with everything. so i can kinda see where that numbers coming from.

it must be fully dressed cause that is just ungodly heavy for 6" more material.

the 5.0 bmw V10s are not all that great to tell ya the truth, with all the plastic and mechanical problems they have i dont think its all that great. and i think it may be a bit wide not too sure on the dimensions

with the viper v10 you would have more room for turbos on the side. :)
