4G63 Swap.

Hey guys I know I will probably get flamed, but I am going to do a 4G63 Swap into my 86 GXL, and I was wondering who has done it before and if you have any tips or anything that may help me out. I read that a TII tranny bolts directly up to a 4g63 so im gonna do the swap now. Thanks!

P.S. if anyone wants to buy a 13b N/A motor, tranny, ecu, and wiring harness PM mE, and yes it runs fine. no smoke, & good compression.

Hi, a while back i did a 4g63 turbo swap into my mitsubishi mighty max pickup and i used the t2 tranny and everything worked out well but you will need a bell housing and you can talk to the guys on http://www.projectzerog.com they will have the info you need, but you will need the 6 bolt long block, but if your going to go N/A go with the 4g64 block with the dohc swap off of a 6 bolt 4g63, way better out come, and less wiring to do.

WTF is this serious?! does the 4G63 Bolt up to the TII Bellhousing like nothing?!

I ask this because I would rather put a 13B into a GSX Shell...... that would be TOO perfect..

BuujinBejiita 09-15-09 07:18 AM

Yah they almost bolt right up. I have a 1994 Mighty Max and a full 4G64/4G63 hybrid I was going to put into it. You can either use a RX7 trans or Supra trans, those are the best choices for the truck, and I would imagine the same for the rex. I just got my motor out of my RX7 and was looking at my 4G motor and got my gears turning, but would rather stick to the rotary.

If my new TII motor fails me that 4G63/64 motor will find its way in there, forged internals will handle 600 horsepower all day long.

Why would you want to do that, to make your rx7 even less reliable? lol just kidding. I use to be big into the dsm's, so I can say that.

BuujinBejiita 09-15-09 09:23 AM

Well DSMs are about as reliable as a rotary :-/. They both run damn good, when they run haha

PseudoKirby 09-15-09 09:33 AM

so this is known among many people then?

basically I would just need to get engine mounts and a crossmember custom fabricated and I could put a 20B Engine in a 2G GSX?

that would be my absolute favorite car, AWD Rotary with Eclipse good Looks... I would want that more than an FD..

it would be easier then putting a GSX Drivetrain in a FD right?

the only thing is going to be the wiring which would prolly be a hoar right?
I think I just found my life project lol

SirCygnus 09-15-09 09:36 AM

does this mean you can put a rotary into a dsm? an all wheel drive talon?

btw, i found this..

not a womans car, but Ricer cars yea.... it sucks, but I do love the look of the 2G, I had a 2G for a DD up until about a month ago

Well I have alot of friends with 600+awhp DSM's so I attended the DSM shootout last year. When I was there I saw a 4G63 powered FD3s drag car & spoke with a guy who had a 4g63 powered FC3s. I'm not a fan of piston swapped RX's, but the the work put in was good. The guy with the FC is from ohio & can be found on Ohiorotaries.com his screen name is Coltboostin, I'm sure he could answer any questions. I have heard of a few more around , but never seen them.

BuujinBejiita 09-15-09 09:53 AM

The easiest thing to do for wiring is standalone on something like this. Thats my opinion anyways.

AFAIK, JP never could get the Mazda tranny to shift properly, so he's rocking a D50 tranny that is probably going to give up the ghost soon. Also, he switched from a 2.4 wideblock to a 2.0 narrow block for the D50 trans.

MAPerformance was using a Ford AOD when I talked to them at DSM shootout '08

dbragg 09-16-09 12:09 AM

This is by far my favorite 4 cylinder swap idea for a 7.

I just picked up a TII motor and tranny, and I might be picking up a Mighty Max wideblock 4G64. I met a guy through work who has a Mighty Max and a spare block. I won't be planning on doing a swap in the near future though.

BoostedBseries 10-08-09 06:40 PM

i was going to do this too and in case anyones wondering a rotary wont bolt to a dsm tans...u need a mitsu bellhousing that bolts to a t2 trans it comes from the early b2600 trucks that used mitsu engines but it youd need to use a wideblock not a narrow 4g63 block

turbotim 12-19-13 02:25 PM

whats the curb weight with this swap.

SOB Racing 12-20-13 03:30 PM

I would imagine it's about the same. I haven't weighed my 4g63 swapped 87 but the metal lumps are about the same. 8) What's a rotary engine weigh?
