1jz-gte or sr20det??

Hi guys,

I had bought 2 sr20dets from a guy to do a swap in my fd... the same guy is also importing 2 1jz-gte engines with my engines... Now i have a choice.. should i install the sr20det or the 1jz gte.. Need to know ups and downs.. and installation tips and difficulties.. i can have the mounts and the drive shaft fabricated here...

Also this is a thread asking a question.. please do not flame me saying the rotary is the soul of the 7... even if it is then mine has a dark soul .. which has tortured my soul alot

Ooh and i am giving it a last try with the rotary yet again.. will know in 3-4 hours if it works...

thanks

if you swap, always try to get a better motor, which the sr20 is not
i dont know enough about the 1jz to offer an opinion tho

1jz is ok 2jz is better. the sr20 is not the best engine if high hp is your goal.

get a 3sgte......

no one ever wonders why toyota never used this 2jzgte in their race cars???
they got the same power from the 3sgte and less weight....the motor was able to be place well behind the front axle....

and yes you can make well over 700ft lbs of torque with a 4 banger :)

Whats wrong with the SR20?? It has already been proven that the motor is capable of doing consistent 10sec passes (stock internals). There was a forum member who did it to his 3rd gen.
The 1j is a good motor. It is also capable of high hp on stock internals, I know of one personally making well over 600hp. So to make a choice, it would have to come down to personal preference. Heres some other things to look at to maybe make a decision....
what hp #s are looking for...
which will be easier for you to get stuff fabricated for...
whoever will be doing the tuning for you, which motor does he know the best....
Those are just a few things that come to mind, figure out what it is that you are wanting.
