the 13b might become a 1jz

what do you guys think about doing that swap?

and if so what all would I need to get what computer?
and what else do i need to get?

would it be a nice swap? a mart one for that fact?

thanks for the comments, now let me here what you all have to say

jamespond24 06-30-08 08:18 PM

You can send me the 13B anytime :D

Frankie_FD7 06-30-08 08:43 PM

haha would you all think it is a reliable worth while thing to do?

SLOASFK 06-30-08 08:52 PM

it depends really...

What mods are done to your 13B?

I'm not asking because I care about your ability to drive the car, I'm asking because if you have something I want I'll encourage you to do the swap and sell me what I want :D

Frankie_FD7 06-30-08 09:00 PM

^^^^^ haha you're horrible well for now I dont have a fd but I was going to get a fd that is not working because the engine and just swap it out for the 1jz either way if I was not going to swap out the jz i was going to look for a nice working one and make sure it had the right htings done and if not fix it myself. I was just think about the apexi fc, full exhaust beginning at the downpipe, new radiator, intercool, vacuum hoses, a boost gauge of coarse, turbo timer, and maybe new pullies. nothing big that would be all then some exterior stuff... but if not I was just going to get the 1jz and just get a exhuast.

which one would be more reliable?
or nicer to go with?

say give me answers that you would do if it was your car =] lol

SLOASFK 06-30-08 09:15 PM

if I were you, I'd pick one up with a nice GT35R turbo installed, with a blown motor....then gift the 35R kit to me for being so useful :D

Honestly, the 1JZ will be more dependable, but being the age of the car there's a lot of non-engine related things that could go wrong.

Rewind to two years ago, I bought a rolling chasis FD with what the previous owner assumed was a blown motor. Today, after the guys at IRP (formerly of Gotham Racing in Dallas) have put a ton of work and parts into it, I'm thoroughly enjoying my rotary powered FD. I'll never put a piston motor in this car. The whole thought seems rather mindless to me, but what do I know?

First of all, saying youre gonna do it and actually doing it are two different things. There's a 99% chance you are curious about doing the swap....then you find out that it is gonna cost more than the car is worth and you will not even do it. If you are that other 1% then i say go for it.....come on now, its Toyota!!!, of course it's gonna kick ass and be super reliable. just a little FYI, make good friends with a credible welder because youre gonna need all the breaks you can get when it comes to the cost of all the fabrication youre gonna need.

The 1JZ/2JZ swap kit is $2,500.

I have one.

If you're going to spend the money for a 1JZ, you might as well be going 2JZ. There's NO earthly reason to go 1JZ OVER a 2JZ.

So be cool, and go 2JZ like me.

lol :P

If you can (and do) fabricate everything yourself for the swap, the 1JZ could potentially be much cheaper to get into.

i have the swap as well and the 1jz is alot cheaper. Wont hold the power of the 2jz in stock for but is a lil lighter and revs alot higher. Kinda suits a 7. But the 2jz is far better. Like a 12a vs 13brew
