Widest Wheel on an RX-2?
Does anyone know the widest possible size wheel you can fit on an RX-2? I'm considering these wheels that are 14x8 with zero offset. Before I get them I want to know that they would fit. Any ideas?

My RX-2 came with a set of 13x8 Revolutions (unsure of offset), but they are mainly for auto-x as they stick outside the fenders a little and will rub the rear fenders if the tank is full or there's extra weight in the back.
You might be fine on the back sides of the wheels, but will probably have issues rubbing the inside fender wells. You could always roll the fenders for a little extra space, the previous owner did that on my car but they still will rub a little unless you watch the weight in the rear. I've considered having maybe 1/4" of material machined off the rear wheels but I haven't really played around with them much. They have slicks on them and they're a little wild to drive with on the street. Mike |
Revolutions come in our lug pattern? I have Revolutions on my Celica 13x9 and 13x10, I like them a lot. Any pix of them on your car? And what size wheels are you running? I guess it all depends on that offset.

Yeah they have Revs in 4x110, but I think they're hard to find. Not positive though. I don't have any pics of them on the car, but I could probably eventually get some. As they're slicks I haven't really been motivated to try them on the street. I put just the fronts on once awhile back and the car was all over the place following every rut in the road, so I took them off and put my street tires back on. According to some old rough measurements I did the offset is something like 12-13mm on them but I can try to double check the wheels. From what I can recall they didn't say anything about the offset though. They have roughly 4" of backspacing and 4.5" of frontspacing.
Right now I have 14x6 Two-Gates wheels on it, they're an alley-cat/panasport type wheel. Here's a pic: |
vdo junkie, you have the white ra with flares right?

I saw your car at the TORC and I may have bought some parts off you a while back. |
Doc, his car has fender flares and they're tuck in... what's the offset on the 13x7
Vdo game junkie, I may be intereseted in the revolution myself, are you getting this from a supplier? and how much for a set? |
Ya, what islandsnow said . . and its a '72.
There used to be a website where you could order Revolution wheels but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I think it was www.ttrsracing.com but that site shows that it is under construction. I remember them to be really expensive though. I wasn't considering the Revolutions for my RX-2 but now they might be an option. The wheels I'm looking at are old school SSR MKIII. It has the proper lug pattern but not sure it would fit because of the width and offset. Hey Smeagol, could you measure your 13x8 for me from the back of the wheel to the lip. Also what size tire is on there now? I don't mind rolling the fenders or even shaving them a little. I plan on using a 195 tire anyway, so it's not that wide. I'm really going for the lip. |

yeah but the old school MKII/MKIII are just as hard to find than the revolution wheels on a mazda bolt pattern. But are plenty on a toyota lug pattern, another idea would be to use an adapter. May have to ask Gabe if he can make one. |
