Why no Archives for Other Rotary?

Why isn't there an archive of information in the "other rotary" section? Is there a better site we should be on?

Siraniko 12-14-06 04:02 PM

Coz us old school boys know how to use the famous "SEARCH" button and I say 80% of the time, we know how to do it, or at least we know someone.

13BT_RX3 12-14-06 04:29 PM

Sure, that covers things that you know you want to know. But what about things that you probably would like to know, but didn't know existed? You can't search for what you didn't know you were looking for. Archived info allows easy access to information deemed important by experts such as yourself.

lupin 12-14-06 05:08 PM

I say lets go for it. I would love to read more info about other rotary.

I understand where wacky is coming from though. Thats why I like other rotary so much, because a lot of people know what they are doing.

Doc Holiday 12-14-06 05:22 PM

Why no archives for old rotors? Dude, there are only like TEN of us.......lol

Siraniko 12-14-06 05:25 PM

There is not much into our old school other than suspension and electrical. For everything else (such as engine, tranny etc etc;) check out the other forums such as 1st gen, 2nd gens and 3rd gens. I used them a lot for reference.

and 10-4 to doc :icon_tup:

Obsolete parts cross refencing that is sometime hard info to find. Contact info for suppliers of parts still made for our cars would be good to have on easy lookup. Sure the old school way was to make your own lists, but we have the intenet now.

Atkins Dan 12-14-06 06:10 PM

Also keep in mind that you have some collectors that will be more than happy answer any\all of the Questions...
I know I ask them alot of Questions when it comes to making new parts for the old school cars\trucks...

+ 1 for the archives for the old school..

Dan

banzaitoyota 12-14-06 06:43 PM

I just asked my wife if she's willing to vote for an old school archives. I think a "yeah, whatever" counts.

+2

13BT_RX3 12-14-06 07:27 PM

If we do get an old school archive...The next step would be to nominate old posts to fill it up with.

Smeagol 12-14-06 08:43 PM

+1 for moving to Australia

Siraniko 12-14-06 08:58 PM

Being number 10 in the old school rotary club, I say do it.

trochoid 12-15-06 12:43 AM

Well, if I ever get caught up on projects and get the REPU on the street, make me #11.

smurfy RX3 12-15-06 09:52 AM

One problem guys... if we move to Australia it'll probably be confusing driving on the other side of the road and we'll all get killed.... then what? LMAO

Another thing.. only 10??? There has to be at least 15 of us!!

Crit 12-15-06 07:25 PM

We'd never be able to rego our cars. They have to pass an engineering inspection, emissions, and TONS of other regs for Australia. All we could do would be take our spares and a motor to Aus, then start over. Why don't we just pool some cash and buy a small island somewhere. There we could have all our own rules.

Dude you alone are enough for all the other nine of us, so lets see that makes us about 20

LUPE 12-15-06 08:25 PM

Hopefully, I'll have some stuff to contribute soon.

13B-RX3 12-15-06 08:37 PM

Hurry up LUPE. I could use some friendly competition.

Rotaryhaven 12-16-06 06:53 AM

Count me in! +12 or whatever it is!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though the cars are simple, I had to ask a lot of questions. Especially when you are trying to bring back one from the dead or hibernation.

RX-3 wagon brought from the dead (looks dead but runs excellent, )

Cosmo- Hibernation

Even like wacky stated we can manage buy why struggle????
Archives would be nice and some other stuff for example.

1. Sources where to buy parts. Either new or old

2. A locator? Hey billybob, I saw an RX-4 at such junkyard. This is more of a courtesy thing.

3. Modifications you have to do to put that newer rotary engine in your old school ride.

4. Pictures of some old school stuff from back in the day, what was available. Some old school catalogs.

Maybe it's just me ranting but, I had to learn quick about some stuff.

If I get the section made, can you guys help in selecting what you think should be put in there?
As stated, with this section not being very busy and the limited number of users/threads mainly by "smart" people who can use the search button its fairly easy to sift through. I agree we should have an archive and will see about getting one.

Bob Holton 01-15-07 08:05 AM

Make me another number. I have an RX3 wagon. From Fairbanks Alaska. rust is its middle name. I need an airpipe and what does it hook into at the front end? Lonesomebob.

Crit 01-15-07 04:37 PM

If it helps, Vintage Rotaries is intended to serve as an archive. We're working to add FSMs, wiring diagrams, and plenty of other stuff as we grow.
