wheels for 72 rx2
 

Does anyone know the wheel bolt pattern dimensions for a 72 rx2? I think it is 4x110mm but I want to make sure. Also, does anyone know where I can get some wheels for this car? Thanks for any help.

Yeah, 4X110 is the stock pattern. But if you are planning on doing any brake upgrades from a GSL-SE you'd end up with a 4X114 pattern up front. That's the problem I have with my Deuce so I'm just going to get my axles re-drilled by a driveline shop so I can run 4X114 all the way around. There's way more old school wheels for 4X114 also so that's a big benefit.

If you want to keep the 4x110 pattern there are some wheels around though.

I'm trying to get a batch of some old school looking Rotas made in the 4x110 pattern so I'll keep you posted.

www.diamondracingwheels.com has them in several sizes and configurations if you want steel wheels. One this to keep in mind with an rx-2 is that there isn't much backspacing clearance around the hub. You can get rx-7 wheels from eBay fairly cheap (I got a set for $70 shipped and spend $20 refinishing them myself) but if they are 13inch wheels they may need spacers as the original 13's came very close to the ty-rods. I got rx-7 X pattern 4 spoke wheels and had to use spacers up front to clear the ty-rod ends. Here is a picture of said wheels on an rx-2. The most desireable wheels for most of us are Epsilon, Enkei and Auto Bahns because you can fit wider tires on them but they will set you back at least $350 a set for 14inch wheels and $500 for $15inch. More if they don't need to be re-finished. If you want new wheels try restoreclassics.com they have Roh snyper in 15x7 and Roh reflex in 16x7 in the 4X110mm blot pattern. Both fit 205 width tires.

Thanks for the help guys. I have the 1st gen rx-7 wheels right now and want something new. I think I am going to do the gsl-se swap front and rear so I probably will wait until that happens before throwing down money on some new 4x110's. Unless I come across a good deal. Thanks again

Yeah, I hear you about wanting something other than 1st gen wheels. The GSL-SE swap is the way to go so you can get the bigger spindle, better bearings, vented rotors, and even run FC TII brakes later (bracket required) if you like. I have a pair of 15" Weds Autobahn wheels in 4x110 so once I do the SE swap I'll just run those in the back until I have my axles drilled so I can have 4x114 all the way around.

I have another wheel idea that might work out for you. Let me try to get you a pic... I need to dig around.

If you do the GLS-SE conversion you can get Rota RB or Konig Rewinds in the 4X4.5inch (114.3). Very nice looking. See pics. Here's two pictures of the Roh snypers I mention before too. I also uploaded a pic of an american racing wheel (I think it's called the silverstone) that is available in a 4X110 but they have to be special ordered.

I found a close up picture of a ROH Snyper wheel.

I have a set of 15x7 Autobahns in 4x110 pattern with brand new Nitto tires. I'll let it go for $650. The wheels are in very good shape with some minor curb marks.

If you still have them, I'll give you $350 cash pluss a set of 4X108mm(65mm bore) 15X6.5in chrome 5 spoke wheels. I was going to try to get a friend of mine who does weldin and machine work adapt them to 4X110 but he wouldn't try it for me. They are about a +25mm offcet and look very much like third gen. wheels(why I liked them). I have pics if your interested.

fchoncho above stated you had swapped the front end with the GSL-SE, i want to do the same to mine, can you just buy a new hub for one? or are the spindles a different size? Basicaly what all do i need to do to upgrade to the 4x114mm bolt pattern?
