Weber IDA & RX-2 hood clearance

Just curious if anyone has run into hood clearance issues with a Weber IDA carb & intake? I haven't actually installed my setup yet, but I have done some preliminary measurements as best as possible with the current setup 'in the way' and it looks like it's going to be fairly close. My IDA & intake is approx. 16" from the bottom of the manifold to the top of the air cleaner. Doing the rough measurements it's nearly 2" taller than the stock carb/air cleaner so I am wondering if I am going to run into problems once it's on.

Anyone else with this setup know how "tall" their setup is? I'm not about to cut holes in the hood, heh. Do people generally run shortened IDA intakes?

No clearance problem. With my FB, I have to run the IDA without the spacers to clear the hood.

Well, all you really need to do is get a screw and filter to fit your application. I run my IDA with a 3" tall filter and it clears the hood. K&N sells the filters in 1" increments, so you can always find something that fits. Of course, you can always put a hole in it and run a 6", but a short filter will get you what you need. I don't have the filter number on-hand, but if you buy one locally you can usually return it for a shorter one if you have an interference.

Hey Smeagel

This is Shaun, you brought the rx2 and repu by where I worked. Give me a call 530-589-1096

Ok, will do.

Wacky, any idea how tall your whole setup is with the filter installed? I think mine came with a 4" filter, but I'll have to double check on that.

Thanks for the info guys.

Mike
