I built my rotary powered GLC in 1987. It had a stock RX-4 motor, but assembled with 1985 RX-7 nitrided cast irons. RX-4 trannie, RB aluminum flywheel, RB header, and a custom rear axxle, using the center section from an RX-3 rear axle( or maybe RX-2, can't remember for sure) with an RX-7 limited slip.

The front struts were 1st gen RX-7, which lowered the car about 2 inches, and of course had much bigger brakes. It was about 150 pounds lighter than a 1st gen RX-7.

I towed my ski boat with it for two summers, put over 100,000 miles on it in 4 years, then sold it. It was, indeed a great little car. Mine was a 1980, the last year for the rear wheel drive version in the US.

I'll need to do something about the rearend in mine some day. I won't worry about the stock one until I break it.
