And so begins the rotorolla project =)
So! I have a 1986 corolla and i have an s5 13b.... and so starts the carbed, bridgeported 13b corolla drift/track car =) can't wait, picked up the engine today.
Wish me luck! -Garrett |
Good luck homie...i was thinking about doing that for a drift car....
nice, dude a ae86 with a rotary. its like two amazing things put together. good luck.
finally, a motor with some balls in that chassis
sickness, a buddy of mine also is doing the rotary in his ae86 here in gilbert, az...except he is going the rx8 engine route :)
lol thanks for all the kind words guys =) going to go pick up the 2 1/8 flywheel socket over the weekend, so picks of the teardown should be up soon after that =)
well here it is. the day i got it
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...6/PIC-0120.jpg got my size "bigass" socket :icon_tup: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...6/PIC-0123.jpg got the intake manifold off, and the fuel system off. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...6/PIC-0124.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...6/PIC-0122.jpg and how it sits now http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...6/PIC-0125.jpg sorry for the crummy pictures, camera broke =\ probably take off the rest of the intake today going out probably tomorrow and getting a big breaker bar for the flywheel nut. seeing as how i only weigh 135, i doubt i can muscle it, haha. i'll keep you guys posted =) -Garrett |
as i was searching around for results of a 6 port bridge, i was wondering, should i just go with a 6 port street port template, and then bore out the port even more?
i know pineapple and stuff makes the 6 port templates for street port, and i know you CAN bridge 6 port engines, but at far as power with reliability should i just do a 6 port monster street port or 6 port street port template, then add the bridge myself? sorry if that was confusing -Garrett |
if you do it by your self by eye then both rotors wont be exactly the same. and youll lose power.:icon_tdow
that's true... so i guess just monster street port? is it possible to get a 4 port template and use it on a 6 port? i mean, really the only thing that would be untouched is the 5th/6th port right?
so... i'm having a real hard time getting the flywheel nut off... i used the torch method.. stuff not off, i got the front one loose though... any ideas?
well if you dont have air tools . pb blaster and cheater pipe. good luck!
So what have you tried? How do you stop the flywheel from spinning? A cold chisel and a good size hammer can be used to spin the nut loose. Some times the nut gets beat up bad. Get a new one for assembly, it'll be easier the next time then. Remember how soft your thumb is
well i have a cordless impact wrench, tried that, tried doing it after heating up the nut, tried a breaker bar with long pipe on it. how do i do the chisel idea?
Use the chisel on the corner of the nuts to spin it off. You will cut a gouge in the nut but that gives you a better bit. The impact on the nut will break it loose so you can spin it off. Make sure you're going the right way!

i had to use a large sledge on a breaker bar once
well i still haven't gotten it off, but i tore the block apart, all that's left is the flywheel bolt to get the e-shaft out of the rear housing. front housing looks pretty dang good, a little gouging on the rotor, but nothing too bad. i'll take pics tomorrow, sleepy =p Night guys!
-Garrett |
This looks awesome, love to see more pics!
pics coming soon, kinda skipped a few steps =\ i'll have pictures of how everything sits as of now, 1 rotor, one housing, one iron, and some other stuff, maybe even a pic of me if you guys are lucky ;)
-Garrett |
Who's making the engine/ trans mounts? I have a TE72 and and extra motor and tranny. Fabbing mounts is the only thing stopping me from tearing out the 3TC in favor of a stock 6 port.
