While we're on the subject, they need to spice this show up. As the years go by this event is getting more boring and less venders every year. They need to hold this event at like California speedway so we can have a car show, drag race and even circle/drift all in one event. They didn't even drive the race cars in this year for the public to see. Or at least throw a bikin contest in there. :)

+1 soon as i pulled in..i was ready to go...seven stock is getting less and less appealing to me..They had nothing to show for this year. less vendors, less show cars to represent in the vendors area out there, the speech hell i didn't know what the hell was up with that? that shit was boring and hard to understand, they didn't roll the race cars out "maybe had to do with that RX8 track car doing that crazy fucking burn out last year and getting sideways putting people's life at risk what a dumb fuck. Scale 1-10 i give it a 5 for okay-ish..eh its what ever

Siraniko 09-29-09 11:06 PM

awe cum on bro, its a free event and a bikini or wet t-shirt is not gonna happen. in fact, I've attended JCCS during the first 2 years and I didnt see one either although I paid my dues. the only difference between these 2 local events is that JCCS has more girls. This is due to the fact that they are not with the rotorheads. maybe you should bring some of your homegirls to 7stock instead of the homies. Besides, who would want to go out with rotorheads since our cars have a distinct smell, not up to date and finally, rotorheads are cheap asses and always broke since their motor kept on blowing.:lol::lol:

Thanks for bursting my bubble. So I guess wet t-shirt contest is out of the question?

Ok, next year after Sevenstock we can all go over to Captain Creams titty bar, its right down the street. Oh yeah, I forgot we are all too poor and cheap for that, nevermind. Dammit.:lol::lol:

sounds like a plan. thats exactly how we did JCCS at LBC. as soon as we were parked-in, we left to bbq and drink. came back @ 2 PM and went home an hour later.

Ok so where are we having the BBQ?

Correction. I won the Best Non Oem Rotary. I do want to know who won the Best Old School Mazda Rotary.

Wacky you hate carshows, lol. I guess having BBQ and San Miguel is enough to make you go to carshows. Can't make it this year. Let me know if the entrance to the park is better than last year. I still like JCC Long Beach. That was a way better site to have a carshow. Good Luck on the show!!!

Like Datfast1 says... He didn't win BEST OLD SCHOOL, he won BEST NON-OEM RE CAR.

ultimatejay... listen the reason why this is an issue is because every year we have to fight to get SS put on... our main challenge is getting Mazda risk-management and legal to sign-off on the event, and then the CITY PERMIT, which IRVINE PD has a say in. Then it is off to the insurance company... if any one of these refuses, the event is OFF, and what has taken us years and months to do, always seems to get undone by a few inconsiderate people who don't get it. Every year we get a threat to CANCEL the event by Mazda legal, and the insurance keeps going up every time crap like this happens. I even had to speak to the SpeedSource guys a few years back and let them know the really messed up doing a burnout!!

All is takes is for one person to get hurt, hit or knocked-over and the event is OVER!!!!

See it might not matter, and even be funny, to those that just show-up, but it is a big deal to those of us who work hard to put the event on (FOR FREE), and those who want to see it continued.

So if you decide to come next year, PLEASE HAVE A LITTLE CONSIDERATION!!!

Thanks,

Hey Teddy volunteer and make something happen with us....

Guys... we are all very really lucky and fortunate that the event even went off this year. Two months before the event it was DEAD! Mazda, like most car companies is struggling with budgets and layoffs, and it was a real struggle to get anything together this year, with the little, to no, budget that was available.... let alone get a few decent cars to display at the show. We warned everyone that this year's event was going to be a little bit on the low-pro and subdued side, due to the economic situation... yet this year was the best attended show of all the SS events ever. Thanks to all that made that happen!!!

On the vendors, call them up and complain... but lots of them are struggling with $$ issues this year too.... we had many cancel at the last minute! Not much we can do there!

On Bikini contest and stuff like like, forget it, Mazda insist this be a family friendly show, and the club agrees. There are many more shows out there that one can attend to get all that type of entertainment.

On the roll-out of the race cars, yes the RX-8 was a major problem, as are all of the guys every year that decided when they're leaving, to display their speed, and either burn-out, pretend to, or just make nuisances of themselves... again guys, we need to deal with legal and insurance issues to make SS happen every damn year, and none of this stuff helps!!!

On a big track type event, or even and all Rotary show, if you guy/s put it together let me know... I'd love to attend with my 7 and have a little fun myself, for a change!

I understand Bern and appologize for my little fiasco. We all appreciate the show and all the work you and all the event staff do for us. It's not easy taming the rotary beast under my hood but I promise next year to keep it in line. :)

Regarding the low attendance of vendors, I was talking to Jim at Racing Beat and he said one of the main reasons was because the Irvine Co. restricted tent sizes to 10x12ft or something like that and most of the vendors displays were well beyond that so they decided not to come. Also, Mazdatrix had a race event I think.

Anyways, thanks again and hope to see you next year. :icon_tup:

Thanks,

Jarrett

Jarrett, I truly appreciate your understanding and good attitude here! The club is not here to stop the fun guys, just to keep the event going.... The SoCal RE scene has been made world famous by SevenStock and we want to make sure we keep leading the charge... highlighting all of your cool RX rides!

If it was just the club, and not any of these large corporations Mazda, Irvine Co. and the City, it wouldn't be such an issue. You see the City (street and event permit) Irvine Co. (large parking lot), and Mazda, take all the liabilty and exposure when they host and issue a permit respectively, and they are the ones who will get sued, if "ANYTHING" happens. People can sue the club, but we have nothing... so Mazda, Irvine Co. and Irvine City take all liabilty and insurance exposure for SS. If someone falls or gets hurt in the street, or parking lots, it is those entities who are on the hook.

On the vendors, the CITY of IRVINE was the one with the permit size restrictions. If the vendors/display guys used anything larger than a 10x10 single tent in the street, the city wanted us to pay a higher permit fee, and the Building & Safety department would need to come out and inspect every single tent and structure at the event. This was a change that they sprang us this year. Vendors could use more than one 10X10 as long as they were separated by 10ft each. There were no vendors who pulled out because of this restriction.

Also, as you mentioned, some of the other vendors, this year, were at different racing events... Mazdatrix and Mariah Motorsports were at the SCCA Runoffs, and some of the other teams were at Petit LeMans, or enroute to a Grand-Am race... There was also a Time Attack event in Nevada. And there was one vendor who canceled due to a project test early in the week.

And this is just some of the behind-the-scenes BS we deal with....

Personally Bern, I thought the smaller tent setups were a refreshing change that complemented the (original) spirit of the festival.

I didn't miss big vendor setups a bit because the event (to me) isn't about product, it is about the people and the cars (and REPUs and bikes too)!

Long live Sevenstock!!

Hey Bern, I'm totally with you. When we put together Zoom-Fest at Road Atlanta, we didn't have nearly the hurdles you did and it's still a HUGE amount of planning. We found that by taking it to Road Atlanta during a race weekend, we were able to get a lot more latitude in terms of noise and organization, as it's all private. The tough part is that we're there as a guest of the Atlanta Region SCCA during their race weekend, so we have to make sure not to hinder their event or damage that relationship. The good news is that we've been able to organize the proceeds to support their contribution to the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation. I can't imagine putting on an event that's completely sponsor-funded.

We have the luxury of not worrying (much) about the cops, or making noise in the middle of downtown, and it's still tough. Hopefully the economy will have hit an upswing next year and make Sevenstock a little easier to make happen.

I couldn't make it, but still want to thank you and your organizers for what you're able to accomplish for the community. Well done.

Crit
