Saved a rotary ( not sure what it is)
Hey guys my buddy got 3 rotary’s from a airplane mechanic who was gonna use them and ended up giving 2 out of 3 to me one of them has 2 distributors on it and the other one says it’s a 13b but has a carburetor on it the 13b still spins over but I don’t know if it builds compression the one with 2 distributors was completely frozen
|
the dual distributor is early 70s 10a but not sure if it would be an early 12a tho. the carbed 13b could be 74-78.
|
On the top of the duel dizzy, if it's a 12A it will say. I had a complete 12A dual dizzy engine I sold a couple of years ago. They are rare, but extremely hard if not impossible to find many of the parts to rebuild. I think I still have one or two rebuild kits and a few other parts.

Yea it’s a 12a

If the dual distributors are good and rotate I may be interested in buying them both, whole units shaft to the top. Need some for engineering a side project and put to use.
Maybe even the whole front cover set up depending on condition. |

There are several cars it could have come out of, An RX2 - coupe or 4 door, RX3 - coupe, 4 door or some RX3 wagons.

No problem Brother. The twin distributor 12A motors also have the starter on the top of the engine that connects to the tranny bell housing if my memory is correct. The 13B motors that were in existence prior to the RX7 being produced came out of RX-4's, RX-5, Rotary Pickups and some RX3 wagons (though my memory is sketchy on the RX3 wagons). GL!

Mazda never put a 13B in any rx3 we always did that ourselves!! lol

Pre 1984 RX-7.... 13B only came in the REPU, RX-4, and Cosmo RX-5.
|
edit- misread a post and can’t delete post entirely. Sorry.
|
Post pics of the 13b motor if you can
|
NICE! looks just like mine, only without all that other stuff on it.
|
That is a 1976 13b I do believe....
|
74 engine, 76 they moved away from the big letter housings. the front iron should say 3b somewhere if its a 74. if its 76 front iron should be an r6 i believe

r5 is rx4/Cosmo engine (tall runner intermediate iron) |
love the italic font on these rotor housings. our RX-3 runs them with PP for years of racing now. they start to develop hairline cracks around the leading plug holes. if these housings are not flaking chrome and you want to separate yourself from them let me know =)
