I talked to a dealer at Hillard Mazda in Ft. Worth, Texas a week ago about that. He said that they were going to be ranged from $28-$34k. He said that those were what they were gonna be, so I believe the guy. He also said that he got to drive one, and that it was AMAZINGLY fast! I can't wait until they come out. I'm considering having one reserved. He told me that the first one was already accounted for too!

I never trust what dealers say, even after the car is on the lot . Mazda Australia said that they hoped to keep the price under 70K AUD, which is 36,000 USD. Hopefully it's less than that to compete with the 350Z.

damn if its aorund 25-35k ill prolly be able to afford a used one in a couple of years! Thank You Mazda for making fast cars for cheap :D

More than 31k and they are going to have a very hard time selling it. For that much money people start looking for TURE performance cars, or TRUE luxury cars. Not many people are going to buy a mazda when they can get a lexus, bmw, acura, etc...

The competition here really is cars like the WRX, RSX, etc.. and its going to need to be in that price range. :)

Well, with dealer mark up I've seen the WRX and S2K sell for low 30's when they first came out during the peak or thier popularity. Most all the "luxury" cars in the $30's price range are nothing like thier expensive counterparts. They all seem to have poor performance and features compared to thier upper high end models. I'm hoping that the rx8 will be a solid performance car and knowing Mazda it should be. It would be so sweet if it runs 13's off of the floor but it prob wont be quite that fast. As long as its faster than the S2K its ok.

Later guys,

I'd say $37,000 LOADED!

Well, dealer markup doesnt really count... because its different everywhere.

Im talking MSRP. The only two people i know with WRX's got them for around 24k-25k. One was a wagon, other a sedan. Both no option 5-speeds.

$37k? Your joking right? You can get a 2001 C5 Hardtop 6-speed vette for just a little more.

Or, if your like most people in the US right now, you can get which ever bloated huge, gas-guzzling SUV of your choice.
