Rx2 Original Fuel Line Question
 

SO....I replaced the factory fuel line tank to engine with 3/8 aluminum. My car is a '73 and has the evap tank in the trunk and the evap line to the engine bay, there is also the return line. I am running 48 IDA, no return and the evap and return lines in the bay have been plugged.

My question is this: Can I remove the evap tank and associated lines as well as the return as long as I plug the holes in the tank and fuel tank feed tube? Or is this a bad idea. I hate the tank in the trunk and would like to clean up the engine bay of the unused pieces. Will I vapor lock every time it gets hot?

you should be fine since the system in now non return. I have a fuel cell in the trunk and oly use one line from the tank to the carb. But now I have to go back to a return system since I am putting the rew in there.

REW? NICE. That's one reason I upgraded the hard line...just in case.

I have a fuel cell in my GLC with only a feed line. I just ordered a -8 AN fitting so I can install a return line since I'm going with EFI on a 20B.

So it sounds like I can plug the return hole in the tank, remove the ugly ass lines, and I'm good to go. THANKS GUYS!

whatever you do mark all the lines,pieces and keep them. I do not want to get into what happened when I pulled all my lines out and replaced them with Aluminum lines both return and feed. Needless to say I put too big of an electric pump and went though heck with a carb and I am still vapor locking unless it early in the morning or at night here in Florida. You will need to put a coiled fuel line for a vent on the large filler line for the gas entry and just vent it outside. Had no problems until I also had to get rid of that ugly black box and it takes up room in the trunk. Fuel cell great and that is probably what I will be doing next but "IF IT IS NOT BROKE DON'T TRY TO FIX IT".

mrmasda...coiled as to not allow gas to run out and spill, correct? What about those two hoses coming off the top of the gas tank? Plug them off or coil those off too? You think the high humidity and heat of Florida helped to contribute to the vapor locking?

What carb were you running you had problems with? I'm only running a Holley "red" so my pressure isn't that high. I plan to keep the return line in place and may eventually use it, although I rarely see people running returns on 48 IDA's.

I REALLY want to do the same thing and eliminate my condense tank and charcoal canister. Post back up here when you get done and let us know how it goes. There are tons of guys running Weber RX-2s on ausrotary.com too, by the way, and always know their stuff.
